In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

A lot has gone on in the past few weeks that has not been great.  We've had all the fuss over the Arab group who were going to buy some of GG's shares (according to some media reports) and which came to nothing.  Weve had the bookings, the sending off's, the injuries, the 'a two man team' stories, the poor performances and now the hyena pack that is the sports press are running with the Rafa under pressure stories more than ever.

I have to admit that I have not been an out and out supporter of Rafa - some of his tactics, substitutions and player purchases have left me puzzled to say the least, but enough is enough!

I am sick to death of every so called sports 'expert' criticising this man when nothing like the same level of questioning or criticism has been levelled at Wenger who has won little in his time and who seems to be a media darling now.  I am sick of Rafa being put under the spotlight after every game and asked about his future, (especially after games when we haven't performed so well), when old Mr. Ferguson down the road usually doesn't have the balls to show his face after they do badly and nothing is said.

I especially hate the pre game punditry on the telly now because we inevitably have the "he has spent (pick a number) millions and havent got a decent squad", partly because I think we could have done better in this area to be honest but mainly because I am just sick to death of hearing it!

So now I reckon we have to really get behind Rafa, show him he has a place at our club and our support,  More than that though we have to get behind ALL of the team - even the ones that have not been playing particularly well and show all the media 'experts', ex players who are now getting paid to spout how great they were and how poor we are now that we are still Liverpool Football Club, with the best supporters, who support their team  through thick and thin and they should all get back to their newspapers down South or in Manchester and leave us alone!

Sorry for the rambling rant but I am just pissed off with it all now and have had enough.

Great post,  :thumbup will say that i have and will continue to back him from the start till the very end and may the end be in the VERY distant future

Those amongst us who call for his head can fuck off.

He deserves all the support we can give him. Even if he weren't a class manager(which he is) he's a class bloke and doesn't deserve some of the shit our 'supporters' send his way.

Got to love the way he plays the fans like a fucking fiddle.

Like a fiddle? No mate. No playing here. He is the best man for the job, he gets us, he is one of us. For that, he deserves our time, support and respect.

No one else find it a bit cringy?

Not criticising him for it, but i just can't picture it. Doesn't seem his style at all. just sems like it would have been extremely awkwardly done. Like the Ferguson "rant", he was spot on, but the delivery was lacking.

The sooner the fucking media can understand that at 31 years of age and attending every home game for several years I can make my own mind up regarding Rafa - we are having a hard time at present with results, injuries and ownership wise but I believe Rafa has that something special.  No question in my eyes - we have put in shitter performances under Souness through to Houllier, in fact we we're normally getting fucked over in UEFA :P

Sack Rafa and we can employ Roy Hodgson and lose all our quality players who realise the mistake and the Americans will keep that money and leave 'Roy' with 2p and a quick hand job when buying their replacements

There is something quite unique about our Rafa in comparison to the other managers within the top four.  You know without a shadow of a doubt that he feels the very same pain that we do.  Hence, why he shows us as supporters so much respect, and always makes reference to us whether we win or lose.

Rafa is very much one of us, and I love him for it!  Will always support him too.

We are a club facing troubled times.  Was on the Porto march in 2007.  Was on the SOS march prior to the United game.

We have to get behind Rafa, as I can honestly say, I don't want to contemplate what might happen if he goes.

I imagine folk found it cringe worthy and a waste of time when the fans sang YNWA in Istanbul, but it's become a part of  Liverpool folklore.

I guess Rafa does play us as supporters, but not in a bad way.  He understands us, the club and why he's loved by a lot of fans.

Ah i don't know. I'd like to hear it first like.

Sounded very abrasive there, wasn't my intention, sorry. Been studying law all night and got the hump.

What I'm saying is we as fans know what he means. I don't care if he places his cojones on the table and gives them a rub as he's giving his press conferences. We all can't be those hilarious, quotable media darlings like Phil Brown (Hull, bottom three of the Premier League), Gordon Strachan (Boro, 6th in Championship) or Aidy Boothroyd (Colchester, League One). As long as we know the man is right, that's all that matters.

We need to get 100% behind OUR manager. He is one of us, and as such should be given our backing while he remains the manager of our club.

Rafa has brought great European nights back to Anfield and has made us dream of much more success than we have been used to in recent history. Somebody posted the other day saying that winning the Champions League was the worst thing Rafa ever did, because it has made our expectations too high, and that is probably true.

We've won the Champions League, FA Cup, been in the final of another Champions League and League Cup. We are regularly making it into the latter stages of the Champions League, and as said before, finished 2nd in the League last season with a record amount of points. But because of the past 10 games or so, our success under Benitez is being completely forgotten and it's ridiculous.

We've started badly this season, and Rafa obviously takes some blame for that, but calling for his head for every minor mistake he makes is just insane, and doesn't make matters any better. There isn't a single manager that I would rather have at the club right now, and I'd be interested to see who these 'fans' would rather have in charge.

Phil Brown (Hull, bottom three of the Premier League)

Just had a great image cross my mind... similar to Rafa pulling out a piece of paper, but this time, yanking out the mic... tugging on it a couple of times as it just ain't coming free... pushing back the plastic chairs with a flick of the back of the knee... standing up, throwing the mic lead over the heads of those sitting next to him... starts to walk off stage left, brings the mic to his mouth, a little wink and head dip to the left and a smile all in one go... inhales deeply and

'When you walk...'

Does the whole song from start to finish - absolute natural, walking round the tables at total ease. And what a finish!

I'm a big fan of Rafa. I want him to stay forever I think he's fucking fantastic. Not just as a manager, but as a politician. The way he's secured his power base is remarkable.

And he's definitely gone one eye on the fans here. I think playing like a fiddle might be harsh, but there's a reason he chose those words, and it's not because they're the ones that would come naturally to him.

When our manager talks like that, our players have to feel the same. Get in there lads and fuckin  get the result.

I know if I was playing, hearing the boss say something like that would lift me, motivate me to give all I could to get the win for the club and for the boss.

Rafa, you are going to take this club back to the top and you have plenty of supporters who are going along for the ride, good times and bad.
