The best one is missing, Pique.

I don't know why Raúl Albiol is in that list either.

Laughter is the best medicine,

Cannavaro is still excellent. I would like to see CBs as good as him at his age, and even at his age he's among the best ones, no doubt about it.

yeah but those ones warrant a place over worf and toure - ffs phil jagielka deserves to be in the list if those two are

He's a manipulative bastard. Another deliberate attempt to put pressure on people in the game, which he thinks he'll get away with because of his "standing" in the game and his fucking knighthood.

I completely disagree with that assessment. Football is played off the ball and they way Cannavaro commanded the defensive line was top notch. Obviously we all prefer the CBs at their best physical conditions  who will shine far more, but considering some of the names in that list and its length, Cannavaro's presence doesn't call my attention as much as it does to you.

By the way, what's Garay doing there? He barely played for Racing last season and same applies for this one

Well to be fair there's a lot on that list that shouldn't be on it, aswell as a few ommissions. Was google broken?

Pique wasn't available so I went for Agger and Carvalho.

You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

I love how much you guys rate Agger, despite him:

a) not being a guaranteed 1st choice

b) injured most of the time. :P

Seriously though, he is the new Paul McGrath IMO. We at Spurs are lucky that his injury record is so dreadful, or he would be at a CL club (whether here or abroad) ages ago. Thierry Henry rates him as the best that he's played against, Capello still wants to take him to the WC against the clubs wishes. You will not see a more commanding debut at a major Intl. tournament than his performance against France in Euro 2004. Injuries aside, there's not a weakness in his game. Pace? Check. Strength? Check heading? check. Passing with both feet? check Carrying the ball out of defence? Check.

As for some of the names on there; Cannavaro, Mertesacker, K. Toure, Luisao, Lescott - LOL!:duh

I'm not voting for captain Lionheart JT,  he's a dickhead who needs a bajillon and 1 defensive midfielders to make him look great (same with Cannavaro) .

Vidic is a cynical fouler wouldn't be able to play football at all if the laws of the game were properly enforced upon him as he'd be permanently suspended, Rio & Carvalho haven't been great lately, Pepe was impressive until he lost his head, Albiol's okay, Garay's promising it's all big meh to me.

Just saying, in my opinion Vidic is in the tier below top. He is a great, great defender, but against the very best in big games he has been embarrassed, twice. My theory is that if the best defender cannot negate the best strikers then it's tough to call him the best defender in the world.

I've found that all these lists have lacked something (no offence Sarge! ;) ) and I don't really feel like I can give my 2 votes to people I'd actually want to vote for. I'd like to vote for Puyol and Pique, and because Pique isn't there I'd like to vote for Cris (mainly because I just like the guy), but then because Cris ain't there I've got to vote for my 4th choice centre back. Ah well, not your fault mate :)

Gone for Puyol and Cannavaro in the end.

Chiellini and Vidic for my part. Chiellini is a very capable defender and has been transformed from a good full back to a great centre back (ring a bell anyone?) and that Vidic fuck. Don't like the man but he's good as fuck.
Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say, "We're Liverpool"

Can't really knock King because I do like him but I think you guys go overboard with your praise.
Just saying, in my opinion Vidic is in the tier below top. He is a great, great defender, but against the very best in big games he has been embarrassed, twice. My theory is that if the best defender cannot negate the best strikers then it's tough to call him the best defender in the world.
But centrebacks are there to be shot at.

Strikers are opportunists and generally come out looking better because all it takes is for a defender to make 1 mistake in a match and that is what everybody will remember.

A centreback can have 5 cleansheets against a particular opponent, mark him out of the game and then have a bad game and that will stick in peoples minds.

BTW - a good centreback is cynical.

please put Pique on there and Agger, my votes. Not sure about Albiol et al being on there, Vidic has been pants this season and is lucky not to get sent off every other game cos he's a manc.
