Who introduced you to this great club of Liverpool?
« on: September 26, 2009, 12:57:05 PM »
Well for me, it was my Dad, and at the age of about 4-5. Having previously lived in England, brought up in the dingle of Liverpool, he was there for all the glory days of the 60-70's amongst the kop :).

I know I live in Australia, but I love Liverpool with all my heart and have an unbelievable passion for this club.
'
How about everyone else?

I come from a Maltese family of uncles who all support man united. I used to live with my grandmother when I was around 8-9 years old (1988-9) and watched Big League Soccer every Saturday morning. Then, I used to sneak into my uncle's bedroom to have a look at his impressive collection of magazines and newspapers. Reading the match reports, I fell in love with Liverpool and I'm now the only proud Liverpool fan in the family.
I am not from Liverpool but my blood is red.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

I got given  a man-u shirt when I was little, and my next door neighbor who we were really close to, came over and told me I wasnt welcome at his house anymore cause of the shirt. Then told me all about Liverpool, I binned the shirt and loved hearing all these stories about Liverpool in the good old days. European nights, The Kop, even told me about the 96 and about Heysel. Back then premier league didnt get half the coverage it does now. But I madly read the newspapers for any news on Liverpool. And always took note to check how the mancs and Everton were doing and hope they would be down the bottom. Never looked back. When we got the internet I was on Liverpool and football websites every night after school. I'm 20 now and can't wait to get to Anfield either next year or 2011....ah hope this all makes sense...im pissed as

MBC...or Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation around 1994/5/6 one of those years or even earlier. Became a Liverpool fan cos of Mcmanaman. However his resemblence to Giggs in my young age was quite funny. Of course the 4-3 wins against Newcastle springs up to mind those years...UNBELIEVABLE.

Shifted to India in 1997 continued watching the Premier League. Slowly with the turn of the millenium and last 5 years especially have witnessed the amount of people my age grow with the game and start becoming fans of the various clubs. Lucky for me I started off as a 6 year old.

My Dad's enthusiasm for cricket and football must not be forgotten. The very first game my dad and my mom chose teams (dont remember which clubs) and started bantering though even they knew little of the clubs really enticed me towards the game. I still own the Carlsberg 1996 (approximate) jersey with those three white stripes on either side.

Dad became a big fan of Keegan's Newcastle..I continued my love for Liverpool...and 15 years on its stronger than ever...

Michael Owen. The only player who I was a fan of apart from Sami Hyppia. Sometimes I wonder at the two polar opposites of players who both made an impression in the same game on me. *Arsenal-Liverpool FA cup final 2001*

Happened to be by chance in a way. Was into cricket more than football but was just flicking over the channels and Liverpool were playing against some other team. Decided to go on the internet and research about things like the Premier League - it's 20 clubs - Liverpool and it's players and basically fell in love. :)

My dad. During his speech in my confirmation he decided that the best he could say was already written, so he sang You'll Never Walk Alone in front of the whole crowd. There's been no way back ever since and we still watch games together almost every weekend.

Had the footy shirts handed down to me as a kid from my two older brothers and two older cousins, so it took off from there.
On 15th April 1989, 96 Liverpool fans died watching their team - we haven't forgotten them.

Introduced? Nah, that doesn't really happen, you're just born into it. My old man wouldn't have had it any other way. He'd have probably topped himself if he had to tell me who to support.

My Dad's a scouser so half my family lived in the city, don't remember being indoctrinated with a love for the Club it was just hard-wired in me right from the start.

Growing up in North Kent most of my mates were supporters of the London clubs, used to go with them to a London game most weeks, enjoyed all the games at West Ham & must confess I still have a soft spot for Millwall,......the Everglades

I can never get over 2005 CL final, my dad literally jumped up and down together, with scarves in our hands, wearing the Liverpool shirt so proud, and I was in tears of joy, and we hugged.

These are the father/son moments that will never be forgotten.

So do I really, because it's like you have to explain why you support Liverpool, which isn't really necessary.

I was born in Toxteth and my family moved to Bristol when I was 5, and now we've been here ever since. I don't sound scouse, my parents do, but I don't, so I constantly get asked why I support Liverpool and have to go through the story a billion times.

None of my family give a stuff about football or sport in general really, started playing  when I was 8, went to school in year 5 and 6 with a dude who was football mad, and drew all the logos off by heart in paintshop. Got in to premier league in a big way cause of him, and decided to go for liverpool when I read about a young lad by the name of Robbie Fowler who scored 5 goals in a game, and I had found my new god. The hat trick in 5 minutes sealed the deal. Not much coverage in australian papers back then, and no internets.

A year later I was given a yearbook of Manu's "famous" victory by someone and have hated them with an absolute passion ever since. (not that I liked them before hand or anything)
