I have a laptop that was set up to be used on our company network, but its being replaced so I want to revert it back to a normal laptop to give to someone.

It has windows XP installed and as soon as I start it comes up with XP Pro log in for our network / server. I want to clear that so it just starts up to a 'normal' laptop.

Might be simple but I cant figure it out, any help would be great, thanks!

Do you know the password for local admin? If not, you will need rights to create a local account first:

Getting rid of the message is easy. Just right click 'My Computer' and go to 'Properties'. Click 'Change':



Click Workgroup and just type in any name:



Click OK, and then put anything in the next boxes as well:



You'll then be asked to reboot. When it reboots it will log in as normal as the administrator (but you will need the administrator password). If you have created an account because you don't have local admin password use that. If you didn't have rights, you'll need to download a password reset disk:
