                    Reina
           Cara           Skrtel
Glen                                 Insua
              Masch
                         Lucas
Kuyt      Gerrard               Riera
                    Torres

This is a formation.  We use it often, I assume we'll use it again.  If we do I'll take full credit for it, provided we win.  This should contribute greatly to any discussion being had as it, most likely, is exactly what everyone else has posted.

That wuill do for me. Riera to give some width and stretch the play.

I would be very surprised if Masch starts. We may even play 2 up top on Saturday - Dirk and Nando.

I can't remember Mascherano ever playing straight after an international break in South America. Lucas will probably only get back Friday as well.
I haven't got a clue what team Rafa will pick.
1-0 will do for me.

That'll win it. Don't care what score. Lets just get down to business and make them wish they'd never got promoted.

Posted it in the other pre-match thread but anyway.

Would like to see

                                 Reina

Johnson          Carra              Kyrgiakos      Insua

                       Lucas           Mascherano

Kuyt                        Gerrard                    Dossena

                               Torres

I know it's a little unlikely that The Doss will start, but now that he's staying he needs to get some proper match fitness. Would much rather see him start at left wing than Babel. Also think it's another good chance to play Kyrgiakos and let Skrtel rest his jaw for a bit after the internationals.

                     Reina

Johnson   Carra     Skrtel     Insua

Kuyt       Yossi      Gerrard      Riera

                      Babel

                          Torres

It might work?

That central midfield would be a massive risk and would leave our back 4 unbelievably exposed, not a chance we'll see that. At least one of Masch or Lucas will play, probably both.

I hope maybe Torres can grab a hat-trick but I don't think we'll be seeing this.

It would be nice though.

When does Masch and Lucas get back as some say Friday night ... good chance with Brazil qualified Lucas will get a game and Masch will definitely play as well.

I reckon this'll be 3-0 to the Redmen

No way will Rafa drop Carra, who's been training at Melwood while others have been travelling for Internationals.

The 6 teams above us are all playing each other this weekend so a win should see us climb a place or two.

It would be nice to give our goal difference a shot in the arm. If we get an early goal then we should hit this lot for at least 3 or 4

Itll be a tough game this and the way Burnley play will help us. They wont sit back and pack the defence and they will have a go like they did at Chelsea in the first half. If we score early then that will be brilliant.

Loads of mates at work are all Burnley fans and I watched them a few times last year and early doors this season..Clarke Carlisle is playing absolutely magnificently at centre half for them and alongside Bikey, Torres is in for a physical afternoon.

I go for a 2-0 tough win...Gerrard and Torres.

I have seen us play narrow for such a long time and I believe we have a natural winger in GJ that can provide width and good crosses on the RHS and with Riera on the LHS would provide width from both sides and supply greater opportunities up front to FT, SG, DK,YB

It will probably never happen and that’s why I work in IT and Rafa’s the boss- But here goes my dream team.

Agree with that. Both Argentina and Brazil have games tonight. We might want to play with either Lucas or Mascherano, but we will not play with both and most likely we will not start with either of them due to the travel.

Thinking the same , but how do you decide who is less tired? 1 each half ? But anytime Tevez was away , UTD seemed to get him home and fit to play if memory serves me correct.

With England and Spain, hopefully through, to the next round of the World Cup, does this mean Gerrard and Torres will now be rested by their national teams, I hope so. Could be vital news tonights results for Liverpool.

Wouldnt be shocked if Fabio or Spearing plays in at CM.

I have stated many of times our CM lacks depth due to Mash and Lucas playing International games in South Amercian and considering its now 00.05 and Mash has just kicked off in a must win game and Lucas is not due to start until 02.00.

Both should be back on Friday and we have a game at 3pm on Saturday.

Cant see both Lucas and Mash starting on Sat.

Lucas should play, I don't expect he'll take much part in the Brazil match, although it is possible he might with them already having qualified. If both Masch and Lucas are indeed out I'd be surprised if Aurelio came straight in to play CM back from injury. Spearing, Plessis or even Benayoun are more likely replacements to pair with Stevie G in the midfield I would have thought. On balance my guess is:

Reina
Johnson Carra Skrtel Insua
Gerrard Lucas
Benayoun            Riera
Kuyt Torres

Bench: Diego, Babel, Spearing, Dossena, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Kelly/Darby
