Spyin’ Kop – Volunteers welcomed

With our new season just round the corner its time to plan our Spyin’ kop articles for the forthcoming season.  These articles have proved to be extremely popular over the years and it was great to see so many of our regular forum members getting involved last season.  If you’re new to the site and not sure what Spyin’ Kop is all about click on the link below and read one of our previous articles.

http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=219192.0

The questions asked can vary from team to team and although there's a generic set of questions as a guide please feel free to add some of your own questions, it’s your article after all.  Questions based on their recent history/rivalries/notorious incidents are welcomed and for me personally a bit of banter is always fun…..

We have a list of Spyin’ kop contacts that we’ve used over the previous seasons (mainly internet forums) and you're welcome to use one them for your article if you’re not sure who to approach. Additionally, we also have a general list of opposition team websites, which can be found HERE or in the Away Grounds Guide HERE

It's up to you whether to join a forum and post the questions or contact the site directly. Experience tells us however that you'll get a better set of answers if you go via the admin team of the oppos website. It's also less work than wading through 32 pages of replies and banter.

(Hinesy: PS its worth noting that anyone writing one up should look at last years equivalent and just check where the best answers and what questions were used - less duplication and also helpful hints as to what areas ring true with the fans)

We would recommend sending a letter to the editor something along the lines of:

Sample Letter

Dear  editorial team,

I'm a Liverpool supporter and a member of the independent LFC fansite 'Redandwhitekop.net' In the build-up to the match we run a feature called 'Spyin Kop' in which we ask an opposition fans site for  their thoughts on the game and the respective teams.

As well as providing an alternative viewpoint on the upcoming match we hope to bring in some opposition fans for friendly banter and discussion pre and post game.  It also gives us the chance to swop information about good pubs, bad burger vans etc.

I've put some questions below, if you or another supporter could answer them and email me back we'd be very grateful.  If you can't spare the time but know someone who might be able to then please forward this message on to them.

Cheers and regards,

(Your Name)

ps.  When the article is complete I'd be happy to post a link and you'd be welcome to come along to the site and see the reaction. if you wanted to run a similar article we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about Anfield etc
.

So if you’re up to the challenge and fancy giving it a go then leave your name in the thread, feel free to request a particular game or just volunteer your services in general and I’ll just work my way down the list, although we only have our league games currently listed we will be doing cup games as per normal, once these games are known I’ll update the list accordingly.

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes part.

Sample 'generic questions'

How has the season been shaping up so far?

What are your expectations for this season? Have they changed from day one?

Who do you think is your most important player(s)?

Your worst player(s)?

Do you have a particular memory of any previous meeting between our clubs?  Say something that happened to you that day or a decision you disagreed with?

Any young up and coming players in the squad that we might not know about?

What sort of line-up will be put out against us?

Do you have any favourite/best chant(s) and perhaps any that require an explanation?

Where do you expect (whoever) -  and Liverpool to finish in the Premier League?

Which Liverpool player will you fear the most?

Care to predict the score?

We've added all the Premier League team badges to the server, so if you use them in your Spyin' Kop piece use the following URLs for the images:

It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

I'd usually take the Spurs, but with Round 1 taken and the other around New Year I won't be able to do them this season. Suppose I could do one of the Man U ones - can I have 25th October??

Hey, I'd love to do the Fulham Oct. 31st match if that's okay.  I've got two Fulham fans at work, and I'll get one or two online to answer as well, just for the variety.
Oh, these sour times.

20th February, Man City away if at all possible Barney?

Ignore me, I'm an idiot.

Arsenal away, if at all possible chaps.

Similarly with the (now deleted) schpiel I wrote about City, it will be fascinating to see how the season has treated them up to that point, and if they can hold on to a Champions League spot which has been theirs by default for eons, especially with City clinging on to their tails.

Cheers all,

Dan

All above added, thanks.

Can you give the date, makes it that little bit easier... :P

Also, still looking for a couple of shirt images, Portsmouth new home and Stoke City away, and maybe another (off the top of my head).

The links given above are (and will be) still valid, though the current shirt images are out of date. I'll get the new ones uploaded in the next week or so and they'll just replace the old ones.

Will add any missing ground and badge images too, mainly Wolves and Burnley.

I'll take West Ham (a) on 19th September, it seems to be up for grabs. Did one of these last season and it was good fun. Thanks Barney.

Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say

'We're Liverpool'.

Added, ta.

If you pick one that's free, presume it's yours, and I'll get round to updating the list as soon as.

19 Aug, Stoke City, first home game and 29 Aug, Bolton away are quite pressing.

Just as whoever Shankly managed would become the greatest club in World, whichever club matches Rafa's ambition will become the greatest club in the world.

I did Stoke last year and you'll get some abuse but also some good answers. Tell em hinesy sent you ;)

PS its worth noting that anyone writing one up should look at last years equivalent and just check where the best answers and what questions were used.

By the way Barney, I'm more than happy to cover any extra if you don't fill your quota (although I'm sure you will).

Nice one, how about Bolton Away, August 29th, and that covers us until late September, so far.

 :wave

I guess there are a fair few users away this time of year, we'll see how we are by the start of September.

Thanks all so far.

If Frankkk could do the Bolton Away, 29th August and lfsea do the Hull Home, 26th September, which is the game before Frankkk's Chelsea Home, save you doing 2 in a row, that'll cover us right up to November.

There'll be Champions League games to consider around then too, and into Carling Cup territory.
