After Redknapp's comments this week about European football being a distraction, I'd be interested to see whether 'arry is trying to "pull a Hodgson" and deflate expectations prior to the game against the Mancs. The games on Sunday and Monday will be huge in terms of relegation.

I know our record at Old Trafford is pretty (very) shit, but I think we'll put up a decent fight. They've only beaten us in 90 minutes once this season (in 3 attempts) and that was when we fielded an understrength side in the FA Cup. Will be the first time we've been able to field Palacios against them too - and hes made a huge difference to us since he arrived.

I think I read somewhere that based on points gained since he joined you'd be in third now if he had been there all season.

Purely speculative of course, but still impressive.

Yeah, its something like that. We've definitely looked a much more solid unit since he arrived. We've been crying out for a player like him for years though - we've been a soft touch in midfield for far too long.

Spurs are on a cracking run, Palacios seems to have made a big difference. Just hope Gomes doesn't spoil the decent run he's having. If Spurs give it their all, we can ask for no more, but any individual errors from Spurs players or a poor performance is bound to see them picked off.

They have options up front too, think Defoe is back, then you have Keane and Bent too, though I heard Pavlyuchenko will miss out.

According to BBC Sport Ledley King could be back an all, that would be a boost, Spurs always look better with him around.

They've got enough to get a point at OT, but will they? Who knows, lets just hope Harry wants it.

According to BBC Sport Ledley King could be back an all, that would be a boost, Spurs always look better with him around.

He'd better be back, it's the only chance they have of getting anything out of the game.

What with Dawson being injured, I'd rather see Woodgate lined up alongside the excellent King than with Corluka, who whilst being a very capable fullback, is less than convincing in the centre.

They've got a good solid defence for the first time in over 300 years. Gomes is showing his true quality, Palacios has made a huge difference in the centre of the park like Tommy W said and even Assou-Ekotto is looking capable. At the other end, If Modric isn't marked out of the game, which isn't likely as it's not Utd's style, and Lennon plays like he usually does against the bigger teams, they may even do us a massive favour and nick all three.

All I know is this is one of the games Man U have to drop points in otherwise we're fucked IMO. So COYS.
It is most odd.

Yeah King is crucial if we're gonna get anything. They never make a decision on him until the day of a match, but given he didn't feature last week against Newcastle I imagine he should probably make it. Fingers crossed anyway! I think we'll probably line up like this

Gomes

Corluka Woodgate King Ekotto

Lennon Palacios Jenas Modric

Keane Bent

Defoe might have had a chance of starting, but I doubt he'll have travelled given the death of his brother yesterday

Tottenham will be without Michael Dawson and Roman Pavlyuchenko, while Fraizer Campbell can`t play under the terms of his loan. Ledley King will as usual be assessed today and tomorrow prior to the game, but after missing last week, it is expected he will be fit to start. As yet there is silence on Jermaine Jenas. Perhaps a bit of Harry psychology as I think if he is 100% he will play alongside Palacios in place of Huddlestone.

In defence, if king is fit he will surely play alongside Woodgate, with Ekotto on the left. I wonder If Harry will go with the recent form and probably better defensive discipline of Vedran Corluka or the more attack minded Alan Hutton, who impressed in his hour against Newcastle. Not only linking up well with Lennon in offering a more attacking threat, but he also defended well. For me a 50/50 call. I have a feeling that we will see Corluka win the day and start, but he will of course be expected to play in the centre if Ledley doesn`t make it.

Three of the midfield pick themselves, in Lennon, Palacios and Modric, it is only a question of whether JJ is fit to play the 90 minutes. As well as Hudd has played in his last two games, I worry that he will lack the pace and mobility against United, something Jenas has and for me he is the better player against teams who move the ball around quickly, like United. If Hudd does play, it will be a massive test of his ability to play against the best. Another good and commanding display tomorrow and he will be justified in expecting to start against all opposition. But although I would go with JJ, a good game from Hudd would absolutely delight me.

With Pav and Campbell both unavailable, it is a straight pick between Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe to partner Robbie Keane. My initial thinking was that Harry would go with Defoe, but Bent has match fitness and dare I say a proven partnership with Keane to his advantage. Add match fitness and he has to be the man to start, with Defoe used later from the bench if needed. Bent has an away goal-scoring record to match any player in the Prem this season. Defoe has only a few minutes football behind him and may not yet be at his best, a fans pick rather than the sensible one for me.
spurs fan above.

My thoughts are a draw ... but my head says a very narrow win for the manc's .... hope im wrong.

Spurs have no chance today to be honest. Utd have their defence back to some sort of form so I can see a turgid, 2-0 win for them, with possibly Spurs nicking a goal if a miracle happens.

Think we will beat Hull 2-0 or 3-1. Can see Torres getting a couple of goals.

I think Chelsea play Barca on tuesday dont they? If so, I wont be surprised to see Drogshit and a couple of others rested for the game. Think Lampard will play because the guy has so much fat on his body he doesnt have to worry about getting tired as there is enough there for his body to turn into energy. Can see it being a 1-1.

Think Boro could sneak a win tomorrow against Arsenal if they decide to turn up. I can see Arsenal resting a few players there.

Not suprised redknapps another one of those managers in the league with bruce allaycdye moyes e.t.c who worship ferguson and view benetiez as the evil foriegner trying to win the league. All we can hope for is a 1-0 utd win which shouldn't reduce the goal difference as long as we win our game.

Tottenham will win, I believe it. I have the same feeling like pre-Everton... they will slipp. Ronaldo and Rooney had one week off prior Pompey and still looked empty. Giggs missing chances is just a sign of being tired. Carrick is not strong enough for Tottenham and Teves and Berbatov might don´t care as much as needed..... BELIEVE.

COME ON TOTTENHAM

Defoe is out

Tottenham's Jermain Defoe to miss Manchester United clash after brother's death
Tottenham and England striker Jermain Defoe will not face Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday after police revealed that his half-brother had been killed in an brutal assault.

By Emily Benammar and agencies
Last Updated: 12:26PM BST 25 Apr 2009

Defoe, who has only recently recovered from a long-term injury, did not travel to Old Trafford for the game against the league leaders, his club said, after Jade Defoe, 26, died late Friday from serious head injuries.
"It is a private matter and we await details," a Tottenham spokesman said of the incident.

Police said they did not believe any weapon had been used during the attack carried out in London on Monday.
"We retain an open mind as to any motive and inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the incident," a police spokesman said.
Roman Pavlyuchenko and Michael Dawson will also miss the clash. The Russian playmaker is suffering with the same back injury that prevented him from featuring in last weekend's match against Newcastle. The club's website however, confirms that no long-term damage has been done.
Meanwhile, scans have shown Dawson is suffering with a partially torn ankle ligament. The defender was brought off at White Hart Lane could be out for up to a month.

Pawlush... isn´t that much of a weapon anyway.
They will win because the Mancs are empty. I think they cannot avoid winning, it won´t be possible.
A draw or loss, you´ll see as I cannot see Tottenham any weaker than Everton.

And a draw would be great as well because then there´s Arsenal and Boro and the pressure will be up again...

As a sidenote.... Everybody who played on a professional level will second that  Ronaldo is empty as fuck. And he still tries to give Manu as much as possible by saving his power for two or three scenes in a game. Remember Porto.
I hate him for being a Manc and a world class diver but his effort for Manchester is first class.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

No Defoe or Pavlyuchenko. Looks like Bent and Keane up front for them. Let's hope the pace of Bent and Lennon can do the trick.

Its been Keane and Bent up front pretty much throughout our good run anyway so I'm not too concerned about that. Doesn't leave us with many options off the bench though I guess

I hate Spurs but Ill still be a supporter this weekend
I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

"Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone

Reckon we'll even things up after the midweek games today, win for us 3-0, and 1-1 the mancs.

Us to win our remaining 4 games, the mancs to drop 4 further points against Arsenal and City.
We win the title on g/d.

That's not exactly beyond the realms of fantasy is it ?
