Buchtmann played very well tonight I thought, he's been one of the best players in this youth cup run.
We have a nice lot of promising players in the u18s. I'd say Pepper was the most talented one though, I just pray he has a growth spurt within the next year or two. Not sure why he was told to hold his position in midfield though when he looks alot better breaking forward as the attacking midfielder, plus we had Wisdom in midfield who is the more defensive one.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

They all look good to me they should all make it to at least championship and above too good for league 1 + 2 teams.

i didnt really think we got the best of eccleston out on the left hes much better and more involved upfront in a two

dv ince amoo eccleston all look good whenever i've seen a YC/u18 game

irwin looks like he could be a good attacking full back, got done a few times at the back but hes got time on his side to learn - plus "I would say centre midfield is my best position, just over right-back," so versatile

pepper has obvious qualities in midfield

and Wisdom is just a beast seen him play a couple and put in a real shift - hes younger than most of the other lads as well isn't he?

how do people think this group compare with 2 years ago when we have only basically had spearing and darby make it through

Two bulls, one old and one young, standing at the top of a field watching a herd of cows. The young one says, "hey let's run down and fuck one of them", and the older one says, "patience, let's walk down and fuck them all".

These lads are in good hands with Hughie McCauley.
Amoo terrorised them in the first half but I thought he was a bit isolated in the 2nd. His goal was an absolute peach though.

Wisdom has the potential to be a monster of a player. At 16 he has the body of a man, reads the game well and has a great appetite for the game.

The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie — deliberate, contrived and dishonest — but the myth — persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

It helps that he is versatile aswell, Wisdom. He has played right back, centre back and now midfield in this youth cup alone.
The commentaters got his age wrong aswell, he's still only 15 :o. 16 next month, DOB: 09/05/93.

It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

so much attacking talent in the side, plus we had Kacaniklic on the bench who is probably a better left winger than Eccleston. Thought Pepper had a few errant passes in the 1st half, but other than that had a really good game.  I would really like to see what a 3 man midfield of Spearing, Irwin and Pepper would look like, they can all do so many things in midfield. Or maybe combine the three of them with Gerrard in a pre-season friendly for an all scouse midfield 4 ;D

Very.  ;D Better crane technique than young Daniel-san. He played well tonight did big Joe alongside the equally impressive Ayala. They kept the Birmingham lads very quiet upfront.

Some of their fans are absolutely retarded, and that's coming from brum fans themselves.
You can say that again, I went for a piss at half time and some brum tried telling me (mid-piss!) to get out and go to my own stand! I obviously told him very politely there was no segregation and there was only one stand open! So he then he started chanting 'Chelsea' repeatedly at me. What a twat.
Thought they were shite in the minute silence as well.
On the plus side, thought we played some dam good stuff, a couple of players, especially Amoo, looked very promising.

If they can't find one lad to make it through out of this lot they may as well give up.

If they can't get ONE of...

Pacheco
Nemeth
Insua
Darby
Spearing
Dalla Valle
Eccelstone
Kelly
Kennedy
San Jose
Pepper
Amoo

...that lot to come through and be a regular at the top level then yes, they really may aswell abbandon the whole thing.

There's even more than that group there obviously, but that's just a list off the top of my head of some of our best young players, and that itself is quite a decent list. Insua has done the most obviously, and I think we all knew he would get his chance, but I'm quite surprised that Nemeth, Darby and Spearing haven't had more of a shot. Nemeth would have done if he hadn't been injured for so long, but the other two have always looked decent enough to get a run out every now and then.

Of the younglings at youth level there really are some top prospects there, especially Dalla Valle. I can't believe how quickly he's made a name for himself and he'll probably get called up to train with the senior squad next season, which would be amazing for him.

ince is at the top of my list
the guy has class and nearly scored a great goal last night

i think we will see a few youth lads play more games for the reserves next year
