Fernando Torres has dedicated his double in Saturday's 4-0 rout of Blackburn Rovers to the memory of the 96.
The Spanish hot-shot pointed to the heavens after opening the scoring with a stunning fifth minute volley and later admitted that the goals held extra significance ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

"These goals are for the 96 and their families because I know that Saturday was a special day for them with it being the home game closest to the anniversary," said Torres.

"These goals are more special because of the service on Wednesday.

"All the goals are for the fans and the families. On Wednesday we will see all of them and we know it is an important day for them and for all Liverpool supporters.

"It makes Tuesday all the more important. We have to try to do it for the families and the 96."

The lad's class, through and through. Amazing that a young footballer is as dignified and respectful as he is, seeing as most of them are a bit thick and usually spend their free time buying Ferraris. I'm sure Stevie and Carra have told him all about Liverpool, Hillsborough and everything else, but it seems he's done some homework on his own as well. Fantastic player and person.

He said it to the sky fella straight after the game. Asked him what the first celebration was about and said it was for the fans and families during this difficult time. Oozes class, class and more class.

What a man, in a world where we get players full of egos that is simply quite unbelievable like Rooney, Ronaldo and Drogba, we have a quite, modest player who always puts the team first who could be forgiven for boasting and toasting like Ronaldo does, but simply focuses on winning trophies for this club. Thank god we have him.

I'm sure they all get the same treatment, but he just seems to take it on board more. This seriously isnt a dig at our other signings, but praise for him.

I have run out of words for him. He is so special, both on and off the pitch, and it is lovely to read his tribute to the victims and families. As others have said - he just gets this club.

It's so much better supporting a player that is humble and modest. We are lucky as Liverpool fans to be able to cheer on top players like Torres and Gerrard compared to Ronaldo and Drogba.

this is markedly different to the story about Ronaldo's arrogance and impatience during a Munich anniversary event. i'm glad he plays for us rather than the orange one.
