The common drug tests usually show as a result ´negative´ after 24 hours in case of coke. And a chromatography as a special method can find coke in your urin only for 48 hours.

Other drugs are longer to find, but not in cocaine case.

Yes FA can test players. Did Paul Merson had a positive cocaine test?
Can't see that been true ... read articles were people gave blood to the blood banks and it picked up traces of cocaine taking over 3 months ago.

Beating this shower at their own place will give us the boost we need I think. The club hasn't been quite right because of all the shite going on off the pitch and it's not producing the right environment to even think of a title challenge. Yet Rafa's led us to being the main contenders to Man U.... I hope he'll lead us to victory in the Bernabeau.

Full of optimism, can't wait for this tie. The CL seems to have an effect on us under Benitez, whether its the way he prepares or not I don't know, but what I do know is that I am excited as fuck!!

Like most i would imagine, i was well up for this tie when it was drawn. Thought we'd win by 2 or 3 clear goals over 2 legs, but since the transformation in form of both teams i'm quite a bit apprehensive now. But anyway we're the Mighty Reds and we excel in these ties, we'll fuckin' do 'em the soft bastards.

I was really excited when the draw was made, we were flying and Real Madrid were stuttering.  Funny how quickly things have changed.

Believe it or not, I'm more concerned about our defense right now.  Since the first of the year, we've played 9 matches in all competitions, with only 3 clean sheets and 7 goals conceded.  I'll be scared to death if we end up in the position of having to keep a clean sheet in the second leg to get through.  I don't know if we have it in us right now.

I don't think a 0-0 helps us too much on Wednesday.  I think we need to come out of there with an away goal.

Hopefully we can get away with keeping Stevie on the bench the first 70 some minutes and bring him on once the pace of the game slows a bit?

One other point to keep in mind is that Ramos has earned quite a reputation as a cup manager of the past few years: back to back UEFA Cups, UEFA Super Cup, Carling Cup, Copa Del Rey, Supercopa de Espana.

We all acknowledge that Rafa is the king over two legs, but Ramos has pieced together an impressive resume as well.

Definitely, Ramos will be so desperate to prove to the English press he wasn't a bad manager after all. I think a lot of our fans are treating this as if it's a home game against a mid table side.

The big one is back on. I have missed CL footbal. It's the biggest and greatest stage in club football.

Come on red man, lets make it to Rome and pick up no. 6.

Clearly, this is Rafas favourite competiton and priority and rightly so. It's the greatest prize in club football.

Mate, no offense, but you more or less described the Pepe Cannavaro duo as a weak link, and that tells me that you don't have a clue on things.

Furthermore you emphasized the possibility of Drenthe starting. I tell you there is not the slightest chance that will happen.

Good news for Liverpool are that Huntelaar won't play, and he's a striker that fixes the CBs creating lots of spaces for players coming from second line. Not to mention he's an excellent finisher.

Yes, no Huntelaar...but Diarra does start and he gives their midfield the type of solidity that they have sorely missed in the first half of the season. Diarra gives Real to attack with confidence because he's a busy player who understands how we will play (having experienced it for many years). I think overall, Real can cope without Huntelaar who besides the betis game hasn't had that much of an impact. Diarra is the key for them in midfield.

Going to be an interesting game ... i have a feeling it will end up 2-2, or 2-3.
And I'll hammer my point home again - you're worrying about nothing and making yourself look stupid.

if Gerrard plays i reckon we will win - which would be a phenomenal result given the circumstances (Reals good form, our indifferent form, Gerrard's injury, away in the Bernabeau etc...)

If Juventus can win there then we can.

Juventus were playing against a totally different Madrid side back then, and football doesn't work like that anyway so your logic is flawed.....

.....Though I do agree with the sentiment that we CAN win there.

If SG plays then we'll have a better chance of getting a result.  I think the key is keeping a few of their players quiet, and Robben is one that springs to mind.

If he's played out of the game (in terms of the midfield and defenders tracking him) then they've lost one of their pivotal supply channels

I know that we have only been beaten 3 times in the League and Cup this season but I feel after Sunday and all the crap going on with Rafa's contract and all that, I just feel that this could be a watershed game, if Real play anything like the other day, we could struggle. If we drew 1-1 I would be delighted, a win would be awsome, if we were to lose 2-0 or more then the press would be out for Rafa, and then the whole club would go back into a siege mentality......COME ON YOU RED MEN LETS PROVE JUST HOW GOOD WE CAN BE.

I'm worried about this one, pretty sure we can bag an away goal or two though. Xabi and Torres both despise Real so they should be giving that extra bit.

Torres to bag a goal for us.

I really doubt Torres will be scoring at all against Madrid, in all the official games he has played against them he has never scored, they just do not play his football. I think it would be smart for Rafa to be versatile with Torres' place in the second half if he has a tough time.

Not really excited for next week's match, the 10th will be the real gamble.

That Torres isn't a fan of Real is obvious, but when did Xabi say that?

Torres scored once against Madrid in the Vicente Calderón, a 1-1 draw, if I recall correctly.

But it's true Casillas was probably the worst goalkeeper for him in Spain.

Torres scored in the last match he played against Real Madrid.

He used to do very good matches against Real Madrid but was unlucky in front of the goal... until the last match. In most of the matches he played against them, he was far from being "under control" by Real Madrid's defence. Anyway, he was much more involved in the game when he played at Atletico, I don't know he is going to do it at Liverpool because he plays so different.

Reckon we'll get a 1-1 draw out of this, which will be an excellent result.

Hopefully it won't end 0-0 though, if they just  need a score draw at Anfield to see them through I'll be very worried.

Torres

That's the obvious lineup and the one that I'd go for if Gerrard looks like he could make it through somewhere approaching 90 minutes. If not, I'd go 4-4-1-1 and use Benayoun as the link between midfield and Torres. As always, an away goal is vital.

The team pretty much picks itself for this one.

             Torres
Riera     Gerrard     Kuyt
     Alonso Mascherano
Aurelio Carra Skrtel Arbeloa
              Reina

Personally I'd play Benayoun ahead of Riera, or in place of Gerrard if he can't play.

Well if I am from Basque Country and support "Franco's" Madrid as you call it, I don't know why Xabi would have a problem. He played for Real Sociedad, which does not have the rivalry with Madrid that Athletic does.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the match Torres scored in was not an official match, though I could be wrong. I just see it difficult for him this time because I think the defense will be hounding him like they did with Messi in december, only this time they are improved.

I only wish Stevie were at full strength, if anything to take some pressure off Torres.

Was tempted to put Babel in, stretch them, particularly with the size of the Bernabeu pitch. but Rafa will be happy with a draw so I think Riera will play. Im pretty confident Gerrard is fit enough to play, probably was on Sunday.

hoping for the best in this one

i seem to remember last season that the tie against inter was a bit of a watershed

the 4-2-3-1 really kicked in and the team gained great belief for the rest of the season

pretty sure we had the best run-in in the league after that and were one riise slice/ one drogba offside in the build-up goal away from the CL final

i'd like real to be the springboard for belief again in this run-in

Me too cos Riera is doing bugger all.  Babel after an hour is essential to catch them on the break.  Him and Nando going direct could rip them.

I'm saying Xabi would not like Madrid - not so much because of a Sociedad-Madrid rivalry, but more because of regional differences. The Basque country was not treated so well by Franco. Whether it affects Xabi at all, I can't really say.
