It's gotta be in Monmartre whcih is where the Sacre Couer is - very bohemian.

Ive stayed twice in the Hotel France Albion:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d282185-Reviews-Hotel_France_Albion-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

It's a very nice, clean and well run hotel - decent price.
There is a metro just 100 yards away "Georges" I think the stop is.
Its a mellow walk up hill from there to the Sacre Couer - but a great walk through the bar/cafe scene.

Ideally placed - if you're arriving at Charles De Gaulle it is easy to get to via metro - just
one change from The Gard Du Nord (station you arrive at from CDG). Defo recommend it.
Conversion into the opposite - a fool who persists in his folly will become wise.

My brother and his girlfriend went over there for new years.

They stayed in a hotel called La Meridien, they loved it :).

We went in July, stayed at the Holiday Inn at the airport. Ok if you don't mind the noise of planes :)

Its a fantastic place, loads to do, but a few things to watch out for if you haven't been before:

  - Beggers - they're everywhere. They walk up and down the trains asking for money, usually they send their young kids to do the begging for you. We even had a little girl sticking a cup under our noses in Macdonalds. And most of them were dressed better than us, and were completely spotless - clearly not homeless.

  - Conmen/women - if someone comes up to you saying they've just found some jewellery on the ground and giving it to you, walk away (or take it and run away :)) A girl did it to us, said she'd just found a gold ring on the ground, gave it to my wife and walked off. We were just going to leave it on a wall or something, but she then came after us and started asking for money.

  - Motorists - don't expect them to stop for red lights. Just cos your being told by the green man that you can cross the road doesn't mean its safe - a lot of drivers just ignore the signals.

As I say, nice place, but I wish we'd been warned about the above before we went, kind of spoiled it a bit.

I've stayed at the Radisson in Boulogne (http://www.boulogne.radissonsas.com) where the rooms are quite nice.

Also the Renaissance at La Defense (http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/parld-renaissance-paris-hotel-la-defense). The rooms aren't as big as the Radisson, but the restaurant is fantastic. To this day the Ris de Veau I had there remains the best meal I've ever had.

I personally hate Paris so the more time I spend in the hotel the better. But if you have to go out then the Latin Quarter is bearable!
I think we'd have won the league if we'd sold Keane to Man United.

I took my girlfriend away to Paris last Feb and started a thread on a very similar subject.

I booked a private apartment and it was really nice, sure the link and details are in the thread. Hope you find it useful.

Just had a look at the thread i posted above, i never actually posted the link to the site i booked our apartment on but i just found it again in case it helps:

http://www.rentapart.com/en/paris/s/prix/95/

Thats the link to the actual apartment i stayed in. Was nice, enjoyed it there, more personal than staying in a hotel, bit more special. Its in a good location as well, 5 minutes from the tube station, bars and restaurants accross the road etc

Sure the missus will like it as well - mine did!

Theres a few nice ones on that site though (which specialises in Paris apartments) if you want to have a look:

Stayed in Les Trois Poussins a few years back, small, quiet, reasonable and ideally located.

Stayed in the Arc D'Triomphe Hilton last Feb and it was lovely, nice and central, about 5 mins walk to the metro line - cost a fair bit for a beer though in the bar - about 18 euros for a Heineken...

Mate stayed in the Eiffel tower Hilton, had a cracking balcony view of it and over the river and stuff but the hotel itself was shit.
Roy. Shut up. Just shut up.
