No he said ground heating is not required for the Championship and he wants it for the PL.

No he never, a new pitch was laid at St Andrews while they in the PL and O'sullivan regretted not taking that oppurtunity to install undersoil heating then so therefore it is not mandatory. The question is undersoil heating required by PL clubs ? No.  Hence Pompey v Man City called off today and Birmingham never had it while in the PL.  I'm not arsed anyway  :wave

is gedo gonna tell us the liverpool team for third game in a row?

He's put one in the 'Rafa on SSN' topic in the forum. Although he doesn't seem quite as sure this time. Usually not far wrong tho!

Nando makes is comeback in this must win game.
Reina
Carragher Hyypia Agger Aureilio
Kuyt Lucas Mascherano Riera
Gerrard
Torres
I'm not edging my bets but Rafa could spring a late surprise and alternate Keane and Lucas, with all the commotion at Melwood yesterday, that was as near as damn it,i could get off me mate

I hope he's right because that team is spot on.

I hope Gedo is right because that team looks really strong.

I would play Benayoun in place of Kuyt as we will have loads of the ball. Kuyts work rate will go to waste against a team with 11 men behind the ball.

Just to alleviate any fears about postponement...

We apparently have one of the best undersoil heating systems in England. I can't remember the last home game that was called off due to frost (not for a couple years anyway) despite the stadium acting as a giant wind tunnel ;)

Now watch me end up with egg on my face when the game is called off ;)

Someone said yesteday that Keane and Hyypiä are not in the team and that Aurelio is still a doubt. No source though so probably not true.

Well for me with Abby injured. Sami must play so I would be shocked to find out he is not in the squad.

With Torres only played 20 mins or so again I would be shocked to find Keane not in the squad.

With Aurelio I feel he has to play however if he is injured it comes as no real shock.

Haha, same, mate. Think it's bullshit. Aurellio is fit, and the person who was spruking about Keane and Hyypia said he wasn't.

Keane will be on the bench.

iverpool striker Fernando Torres is set to play in the league for the first time since November after injury.

Alvaro Arbeloa (hamstring) is unlikely to be involved, and Xabi Alonso (foot) is out, but Javier Mascherano returns.

Stoke (from): Sorensen, Wilkinson, Davies, Shawcross, Sonko, Abdoulaye Faye, Dickinson, Higginbotham, Lawrence, Etherington, Soares, Kitson, Tonge, Diao, Delap, Olofinjana, Whelan, Pugh, Cresswell, Pericard, Simonsen.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Carragher, Agger, Hyypia, Skrtel, Aurelio, Benayoun, Lucas, Mascherano, Gerrard, Babel, Keane, Kuyt, Torres, Riera, Ngog, El Zhar, Cavalieri.

Well, I bottled it and swapped Keane for Adebayor for today (couldn't afford Torres... :( ) cost me 4 points, but at least he is sure to play...

But if Keane is on the bench... why was he bought at all?  Surely he was bought to play behind Torres?  You don't pay £19 million for a sub, who is not even a replacement for Torres as he is not a striker - especially when you already have he likes of Babel and Kuyt.  I assumed he was bought for Keane to play just behind Torres, but why would he not play them both against Stoke?  It is hardly a fixture where you need the second holding midfielder...

I really don't understand what Rafa is doing with Keane...

Hopefully we will score a couple early on and Torres can be rested for the last half hour, give Keane a chance.

Bigger question will be if Doseena gets a bench spot. It's cold and we know how Aurellio is in regards to picking up "knocks". Particularly in this cold weather. And before you say anything, don't give me the whole "Agger on the left" theory. It dosen't wash.

Great team and would rip Stoke-on-Trent a new one.

That seems to be what Rafa thinks too.

Wouldnt mind seeing skrtel and agger in the middle together and carra on the right, but as stoke do those long throwings then i guess hyypia is a more sensible and better choice for this game.

By the way is it on setanta?

Please, don't consider Dossena, not even for a bench spot.  I'd rather have me nan as left back... and she is right-footed...

I dont see the issue in playing Torres, provided Torres himself is ready.

From what I have read about Hamstrings, they depend on the player so if they are 100% confident then we have to take the players word for it. I very much doubt Torres would say he is ready if he wasnt as it wouldnt benefit him, us or anyone else involved!

We should play him if he is 100% ready. I wouldnt worried about him getting kicked around, he is grown boy now, he can take it. Anyway, its not an impact injury that he is coming back from is it?

Him running through into space on his own is going to be more of a risk of him having an injury than getting kicked by the Stoke players.

Torres looked fine  when he came on as a sub v Preston ... would rather see a player start who has hamstring trouble than come off the bench .

I'd be fine with Dossena today - won't be too under threat I don't think (he'll have some questions asked of course), but he can send it some really good cross field balls in when he gets a bit of time on the ball. Might be fruitful?

Thats a strong team Gedo mentioned. Any reason as to why Keane and Hyypia are rumoured not to travel? Can only imagine an injury as regards to Hyypia (700th cap and all that)?

Im not worried about the pitch, Stoke have a fairly newish stadium for Im sure the designed it well and undersoil heating wouldnt have cost that much.

Looks like Torres is starting, if so I think it will be a similar team to the newcastle match with Lucas in the middle and Keane on the bench

I don't mind if Dossena is playing today. Besides, all the criticism he gets would be like water over a ducks bath...
