I saw that and thought please do not go to spurs!

He'd be nothing more of a fringe player here now, so may as well  go somewhere like boro or pompey

No thanks, lets remember his great days at Anfield, a second stint will no doubt taint those memories.

Thanks Louis but not this time mate

Not one of them teams needs a float in and out the game flair type of player.
As much as i love the little fella, he's  not going to do himself any favours coming back to the prem.

That's odd, thought the whole point of his move to Atletico was because he had to go back to Spain, and it would be easier on his family.  I wouldn't want Lil Luis playing for any other English club, even if it's just a short term loan spell.

I reckon he'd potentially be a good signing for Boro, defo not a blackburn style of player now.

Strange, that both him and Reyes couldn't make it into the first 11 of Atletico. Both were national team players at one point.

Well to be fair he has Maxi and Simao in front of him, not helped by the fact that you could proably count the number of good games Luis has had at Atletico on one hand. I don't think he is liked by the fans at all.

As for Reyes, never been the same since he left for Sevilla. They Reyes of Sevilla would make most teams XI's.

While we're at it lets get Fowler back :D And maybe Stephane Henchoz.

He's struggling back in Spain, where its not as physical and a bit slower. If he came back, I'm afraid to say he'd be absolute shite. Wouldnt want him anywhere near another English club, people'd just be ready to say 'See, he was shit'. Unless it was to scorea dodgy winner against Chelsea that costs them the title and lets us in.....now there's a thought

Reyes was looking promising at Arsenal until the inbred Neville brothers took turns in kicking bits out of him.

A stronger character would hav rose above that. But Reyes ran to Spain with his tail between his legs. Its a shame he's such a pussy, he could have been a great footballer. Now his career is gone to the dogs.

One of the nicest guys out there, found it tough going breaking into Atletico's team but would be a big mistake if he came back here.

He should take the offer if one of the mid-table or lower La Liga clubs come in for him.
If he retires I'll eat my fucking cock.

Great anti climax for those expecting jizzihno....

Simao has been on fire, but Maxi has been well below par for me. He got captains armband for a reason, but Simao seems twice the player Maxi is. Hell, everyone in attack, Forlan, Aguero, Simao, Maniche seem better than Maxi. At least for me.
Dunno what happened to him.

I guess the goal against us, the two he scored against Espanyol, the goal he scored the week before and more this season don't count then. I watch a fair bit of Spanish football and every time I've seen Maxi this season he's really padded out the right wing position and made it his own. Looks a quality player if you ask me and is on really good form. Always looks good playing for Argentina too.

Just from what I've seen though, you might have seen more of him.

No, you might have seen more, I don't watch Atletico much.
I mean, somebody in Atletico Madrid attack has to be overrated, IMO. They are not a better team than Villarreal, and they weren't better last season, too. But people compare Aguero to Messi, some claim he's the best forward in the world. People praise Forlan, and I think he's a quality player. Simao has been brilliant, Maniche was good. And you say Maxi is good.

Then, I have to ask, why Atletico is not so good in league?! I don't know, probably their defense is that bad. On the other hand, nobody praises Villarreal as much. They are good in the league, they have Rossi, Llorente and Nihat up front, with Cazorla in support.

Anyways, I think Reyes would be just as good instead of Maxi. And Simao is really quality for them. I feel, he's rightly ahead of Quaresma in pecking order for Portugal

Ah no worries, maybe Atletico, in the same way as a Tottenham or Arsenal, as a capital city team are lavished with more praise for their attacking football than a team like Villareal, who are miserly in defence but in comparison to say a Bolton over here, play wonderful possession football and have some real football players.

Aguero is a quality player but is not as gifted as Messi, who is truly one of the great talents of his generation. Similarly, Forlan is a decent but not spectactular player. On their day any of the Atletico forward line have the quality needed to win a game, but when their defence is so fragile that someone will HAVE to score to get any type of result and they're constantly shipping goals they'll always struggle to break into the highest echelons in the league.

Wasn't a myth Cornelius. He said it himself a few times, that he was missing home. That his family were missing home. He was finding it harder and harder to be away from Spain, especially in his last year with us.

In fact, he said it in an interview for LFCTV quite recently...

Perhaps a six month loan would not be so hard on them. At least there is a time limit for when they would be returning.

Villareal have good players all over the park and a good man manager.
Atletico have a great forward line but are poor at the back, with a dodgy manager.

Why would he lie about this? What would he achieve from saying that either he or his family missed home? If he was lying and saying "Oh, I was desperate to stay" when he was actually dying to leave I'd understand because that would please us. He didn't. He was honest. He said yeah, it was tough. It got hard for me and the family. I can understand that entirely. Have you ever been away from home for a sustained period? It's hard. Very hard. And, at some point, for many, it just becomes TOO hard.

Are we to believe the people who decided that he wanted to stay and is simply "lying" about it, or the man himself, admitting that the lifestyle in England was too difficult for him to sustain, long term, that he missed his siestas, his culture, his family...missed being able to have something to eat late on when the shops were still open and they're closed, here. It's a completely different lifestyle that he was used to, a much nicer lifestyle than the one we have here. A much nicer climate, too.

Is he lying because his wife was the one that was homesick? It's still true, then, that his family was not settled, if this is the case.

Why is it so hard to believe that he wanted to leave the Utopia of Liverpool to return home to Spain, closer to his family and back in the culture he grew up in?

So, to sum up, he's lying because it doesn't fit with what you believe to be 'the truth'. That's somewhat insecure, don't you think?

Why would he lie about this?
Lie is a much stronger word than I actually used but the reality is his excuses are a well worn easy cop out for footballers.

But honestly, if he was as homesick as you say then there'd be no chance of him coming back to England so soon, especially to those clubs would there?

Anyway I think you and GBF have made far to much of my comments. I was merely illustrating that most of what is said during transfers is nearly always diplomatic speak.
