Go the doctors first and foremost and pursue with something you're happy with.

I know how you feel with your apprenticeship though - it's horrible to give up something you've worked for. I don't have the bottle to do it. But it sounds like you're in the early stages. Get out while you can, fella.

I jibbed off something I'd put a lot of time, effort, and money into a few years back and it couldn't have worked out better.

I do hope you've gone to get all that checked out. Tachycardia (rapid heart beat) and chest pain are not to be taken lightly. Most likely it's panic and nerves, but still. Needs to be checked out. Especially if the chest pain is continuous and very painful.

Yer I am and was thinking of quitting not long ago but the  thought makes me sick cos I wanted it so much but the stress if it all is making me Ill.

It's easy to say quit but I live at home and my mam and dad would go mad plus I need the money. Doubt I would get another start with no reference and the credit crunch. Plus my doctor is fucking useless.

Feel like throwing myself off a bridge to be honest

:lmao at first...........

But the thought of the added increase in heart rate is just wrong ;D

Seriously though mate, sorry for not noticing earlier, either tell your immediate's EXACTLY how you feel, in no uncertain terms or just don't return in the new year (or next shift, whatever is first) and I mean no uncertain terms at a minimium the same word you used here 'dickhead' absolutely must be used to describe how you feel, amongst other expletives (at your discretion of course).

This way, you will get the respect you deserve as they may think..'Finally, boy, become man' or they will sack you, to qoute myself 'in no uncertain terms' either way you will feel great, and no better way to start the new year...At least you know where you stand and can attack the year either way.

Sorry, may sound harsh, but i know you from nowhere, so bear(?) no grudge.....Life is Harsh.
If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don't, you will find an excuse.

Life is harsh mate and I'm struggling, just had first major death in the family too. It's all a bit much really and I feel like no one has noticed I am going downhill mentally. Not a clue what to do and feel like I need my head sorting to go for it in the net year

to be honest, if you you are saying and thinking you need your head checked, you probably don't, thats a good sign. We all feel like nobody notices, and thats the problem, we are all too busy wondering/moaning as to why nobody is noticing our problems and not noticing that others have problems too.

Well, I know what you mean, but I personally think health is first... Having seen someone really close to me in a similar situation having a nervous breakdown recently, that is my advice, seriously you need to sort out yourself first and if that enviroment is not good for you and make you get into that situation I don't think keeping the job will lead you to anything better.

Anyway, before you start there you may didn't have a Job either nor money, also your family will support you if you explain them the situation.

Life is Harsh we all know that, but maybe making it a bit more bearable doesn't hurt you.

You should really see a doctor too though. If your doc is shite, ask to see a different one. My brother suffered with a similar problem due to stresses of work and seeing a doc definitely helped.

Dont scare the fucker!

Mackem la, you're suffering from panic and anxiety.  Too much adrenaline basically and your body thinks that it is under attack and is making you scared and nervous.  It is a neaderthal human trait that is still with us, it makes you ready for battle or ready to run away (fight or flight), it's just that your body has translated your work stress into a totally inappropriate life or death situation and that's what your senses feel like.

What to do about it?  Either reduce your stress or ignore the physical symptoms and gradually you'll adjust.  Though I recommend the first one, you hate your job and you're too stressed/nervous to tell your employers and/or your parents.  Talk to your parents and let them know how you're feeling, and change your shit-house of a doctor.

You wont always be treated like this.  You'll get given more and more responsibility as the weeks go by and you'll find yourself being important to them.  Another new boy will be on the block and soon you'll just be 'one of the lads', but thats only if you want to be one of these knuckle draggers.

No I don't. I look at them and it makes me sad. They are so one eyed and backwards and despite being around average age of 50 there time is spent bitching about eachother all the time. There attitude to money is the more you get the more you spend so why have ambition? It is soul destroying and I see lads there who are only around 21 who act like old men because they are around these people day in day out.

I haven't given up on life like they have yet. I would love to start my own business and I'm doing research but it is all very slow.

Might be a stupid question but have you spoken to your bosses about it on the quiet like? When I was 15 I worked in a precision engineering place and dreaded it because I just stood around looking stupid watching and waiting for someone to tell me to do something, generally 'get me a drink' and generally treated like dirt.  Went to the manager, explained, and he switched me to doing some CAD stuff and I loved it from then on.

Must be shit getting up every morning and going somewhere you dread matey.  Sounds to me like even if you stuck it out for the 4 years there's not much chance of you learning anything from those ignorant and insensitive f*ckers.  How did you get on your apprenticeship ?  Can you not move to another company ?  Has someone sponsored you ?

If it was me, I'd be looking elsewhere. I'm sure your family will support you no matter what.
