Met up with several of the Madrid Reds last week. Firstly popped into the Triskel ( their home bar ) on the monday and met the landlady Wendy. Such an informative and lovely person, good looking too! Even met a guy who used to live only a few miles down the road from us, he lived in Stevenage, such a small world.
Thoroughly enjoyed the supporters match, where again the Madrid Reds and mates were very sporting. Shame about the dodgy ref though turning down our stonewall penalty but he certainly tried to make up for it by organising a taxi for us from the Red Corner bar later in the evening.
The Red Corner bar was where we met Neilt for the first time, although he had provided me with plenty of info before the supporters match as well as a welcome text when we arrived in Madrid. What a quality guy he is, he must have helped loads of Liverpool supporters before, during and after the match, including the legendary Harry Trow ( who I believe he let stay at his flat and also helped arrange a replacement mobile phone for him ).
Thanks from all of us who you helped Neil, thanks for being an excellent host for the city of Madrid and of course the Madrid Reds.
Anyway after drinking with some of the Madrid reds at the Red Corner bar on the tuesday, we then moved onto the Triskel with them and continued to enjoy the rest of the day and early hours of wednesday.
We took to the local bars and the Plaza Mayor on the wednesday before moving onto the Bernabeu to watch the match, so we didn't see Neil or the Madrid Reds again before we came home but thoroughly enjoyed their company and hope to meet up again in the future with what must be one of the 'top draw' Liverpool supporters clubs worldwide. Madrid Reds, you are truly legends!
