Well played everyone, especially Neil for all his efforts and Gary for management skills !
Organising supporters' footy in Europe does involve a lot of frustration - I remember weeks of posts on PSV sites in 2006 and e-mails to Marseille fans' groups in 2007, all of which drew a blank. Even at a conference last summer of European fans' bodies, the only worthwhile contacts I made were with the Atletí group, Señales de Humo, so that's why once the draw was made I knew who contact. It was their first outing into fans' footy matches, but it won't be the last I'm sure ...
Let's carry on being the trailblazers for this, and being proud of it - let's all spread the word online especially (I'm going to go back on those PSV and Marseille sites, for example, with reports of our games in Madrid - and tell them that we have had similar games in Barcelona, Milano and Liverpool !).
And I'm going to have a word with our contacts in the FSI - Football Supporters International - about getting some professional help to set up some web pages promoting these grass-roots fans' footy events. The idea would be to build up a database of willing organisers and participants across Europe so that making the initial contacts would get easier and easier every season.
Once again, well played to all the Reds and Spanish fans involved.
