I really hope not, although it does seem a bit late to sort it now.

Guys, we are still trying to arrange something, sorry for the radio silence...  :-[

The hold up is that we've not been able to find a Real Madrid fans' team so far, but a Spanish lad is following this up with the club today. We will try our best, but failing that there could be a game against the same Atleti lot as last time with some Madrid Reds thrown in (if that is of any interest).

I'm sure that a re-match would be fine (and the hospitality that they showed last time was immense), but I think the main problem with them is that Atleti are playing on the Tuesday night, so they'll all want to watch the game, and there won't be enough of us/them around early enough to get a game going.

Oh, and let me know when you get some feedback on the Madrid guide ;)

Looks like we can get some Real Madrid fans, but they won't be from an official fans group. Am on the metro now to book the same pitch as last time for 9pm on Tues 24th - only pitch left in town at right time (again), but close to Red Corner Bar at least. I'll confirm in here the minute I get the booking signed and sealed.

OK, all booked! 11-aside, astro, at the same place as the Atleti game, Tues 24 Feb 2100-2200 (we felt an hour would be enough this time).Probably with beers in Red Corner again later or in our Branch Bar in town. Full venue and travel details to follow.

One of our Spanish lads is talking to the Real Madrid Fans Liaison people in the morning to find some organised opposition from one of their "peñas" (fan groups). Failing that we'll have a team of Madrid fans and maybe a couple of MADrid REDS ringers for you.

More details when I get back to my PC.

RIGHT (almost) SAME INFO AS LAST TIME:

Game: Tues 24th 2100-2200, please get there in good time to kick-off on time if poss. I'd leave yourself about 25-35 mins from the centre of town (Sol) to get there by metro and a quick cab at the other end.

Venue: Polideportivo Municipal de Orcasitas - translates as ORCA-SITAS Municipal Sports Centre (orca seetas, no offence intended if you already have good Spanish pronunciation).  It's in Avenida de Rafaela Ybarra (eebarra) s/n (sin numero, no number) on the corner with Calle (cay-yay) de Ricardo Beltrán y Rozpide (rospeeday). Map: http://tinyurl.com/bhrdy7

Nearest metro is "San Fermin – Orcasur" on southern part of Line 3 (yellow, runs through Sol in the very centre) where apparently there are lots of taxis as there's a taxi depot there. Taxis are really quite cheap, it may cost 4 or 5 euros and all you have to do is show the cabby the address. They don't speak a word of English I'm afraid. From there it will take 15 minutes to walk to the football pitch, up one only road, Avenida de los Poblados.

Another option (that I used tonight) is to get off one stop earlier at "Hospital 12 Octubre" and get a cab from the taxi rank in front of the hospital. 5 mins; 5 Euros.

After the match, we could go back to the The Red Corner at Calle de Bolivar 24; map: http://tinyurl.com/bwx56m or you could join us back in the centre of town at the MADrid REDS local, the Triskel Tavern, calle San Vincente Ferrer 3 (Tribunal Metro) map: http://tinyurl.com/6xs2fj. We'll take a vote on the night.

Any questions, please let me or Nige know.

good to hear. Hopefully we'll get there early enough to catch a kick of the ball or two this time, went straight to the Red Corner last time round cause the flight had been delayed for an hour and a half.

The station is over to the right from the ground and is only 10-15mins walk.
Exit metro and turn right as though you are going back to the centre and the road leading to the ground is 50 yards ors so on the left

A few people last time said it was a bit further to walk than that, and as I was cutting it fine I got a taxi from the Metro  for about 3 or 4 Euros.

Took me bloody ages to find the entrance to the pitches though !

It's a good 15 minute walk from the metro to the pitches, if not 20.

They can be a bit of a pain to find, but obviously that's when you don't know where you're going.

Nonsense. You have trouble walking 15 mins and expect to play football for an hour ffs :P

Just measured it and it 6000 feet which is 1.13 mile. The average person walks casually at 3 miles an hour and is more than capable of walking 4 mph so that is I would guess 17 minutes. add 3 minutes per pint

It won't affect anything other than that you won't all have red socks & shorts like last time, but it looks as if sadly I can't come to Madrid this time.

I will confirm this on Saturday afternoon (when I get back from a work trip - offline till then ) but it's 90% + sure.

SO WHO WANTS TO BE CAPTAIN/MANAGER - SHAKE HANDS, TALK TO MEDIA (??)  ORGANISE STARTING POSITIONS & SUBS, MAKE SURE NOBODY'S TACKLING TOO HARD, ETC.  ?

Meanwhile, like last time, can everyone who's posted so far p-m me to confirm they have the info & are taking part,  & their preferred positions, and at least I can post a list on here by Sunday/Monday of an approximate squad (though history shows that at least 20% of those who say they'll be there won't make it)

BRING YOUR LFC  SHIRT & AS MUCH ALL-RED KIT AS POSSIBLE.

(and no that doesn't mean I  have a spare ;-) )

It took us about 45 mins last time and we had a satnav!! Don't know which way you went but you're obviously a bit of a speed walker!  We only made 1 stop on the way to get some cans from the garage too so maybe we got off at a different station??  I think the hospital stop is closer but we'll see what happens on the night, defo getting a cab though, eh Gaz ;)
