Kinnell mate!!! That's SOD'S LAW in full affect. Feel bad for Nando, it's been a real stop start season for him. Hope he can make for the Arse at the Emirates.
Robbie now has to step to the plate and prove his worth. If we are serious about winning anything this year, players like him have to start taking their chances and be more adventurous in the box.
It may not be about scoring goals to some, but the man is a striker and he needs to score goals simple as.

Might need the help of Kuyt on Saturday, let Stevie play with Xabi in the middle and put Yossi on the right.
Poor state of affairs, but we must win against West Ham to get some momentum going after that dissapointing game against Fulham. :)

Lot of knee-jerkers and knobs on this thread tonight. How many games has Nando missed this season? Where are we in the table? No wonder the in-match threads are such bollocks these days. People need to have a little more faith.

I think most people are just frustrated about Torres being injured and the whole issue with the hamstring, due to what happened with Owen. Understandable, but im sure everyone will calm down, injuries happen, not much you can do about it.

Hmmm, just a wild stab in the dark here but maybe it has something to do with the fact the initial injury and first relapse occurred during his time with your national squad Phoenix. Suggesting this is some sinister adverse effect of him playing in England is a either naiive or taking the piss.
Good post. Also to add, he and the other Spainards have indured along summer which meant they'd take longer to recover than the other players. Imagine what it was like for him to win Euro 2008 with his goal then go through all the HOO HAA that comes it.

Pre season games and training, bloody champions league qualifiers and then the league. Like one pundit said yesterday, it's been an emotionally, physically draining year for the lad.

After the initial "FUCK, not fair" I have now arrived at this: Since there's nothing to be done about it we should try to see the possible positives, i.e. other players have to really step up to it now. We did cope without Torres for quite a bit so far this season (although no question it would have been wonderful to have him back at full swing in December), so we have to continue to do just that for a little while longer.

Seeing him last night it did seem to me at times that he didn't feel fully comfortable out there, so hopefully now he'll get all the rest he needs. If that takes till January, so be it, as long as he gets back fully fit. And with fully fit I mean fit in a way that he trusts his own body and muscles again and *then* starts getting game time.

So Nando: get well, do some Christmas shopping and be prepared for huge cheers when you come back.

Worst case scenario, Torres is out until the New Year.

Are we going to be out of the championship race by then. Very unlikely.

When will we need him most? During the run in.

If we are out of the race come January 1st, we don't deserve to win.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

I suspect Torres needs an operation and he's been rested to avoid aggravating the problem further in the hope that we can delay it until the summer.

Haha quality mate!

To be honest, I'd rather we rest Torres now and don't rush him back this time. Hopefully Benitez has realised his mistake with this news regarding his fitness.

On the bright side, We can beat Manu and Chelsea without the lad. We'll beat who ever we play next without him as well.

Come on Robbie Keane!

Anyway, poor state of affairs, but it's an exhausting year for the lad.
But because I'm an optimist and a man of faith.
I'll say that Robbie will find some form in Nando's absence. He'll probably get a hatrick against the Ham. :D

Oh Lord, I pray that this Keane starts scoring soon. We need GOALS!!!    ;D

Just got to bite the bullet here Redmen. Nando is no use to the team in last night's condition,  even before he got injured. Gutted like the rest of you but we are LFC. Remember how well we played without Stevie in some major games the other year. Personally I'd not change anything already intended for Monday and just play Ngog or Nemeth in his place.

Why was he played yesterday if he wasn't fit?

Maybe Rafa was trying to get him injured on purpose so that we'd all be grateful when he recalls Voronin  from Hertha Kitt? Or maybe, just maybe, in the wild extremities of possibilities, they though he WAS fucking fit!!

Torres didnt look like he was fit last night might have just brought him back a bit early, like was said earlier wrap him up and get him 100% fitt before he comes back this time
only way for him to get 100% fit is to play him in first team games.

on a positive note he wont have played much football in the first half of the season so hopefully he`ll be in top form during the run in next spring.
who know`s, this could be a blessing in disguise, though admittedly it doesnt feel like one at the moment.

Sorry, but how is that worse case scenario? I can think of a lot worse than that.

I'm not saying it's their fault but surely with a player as important as Torres they would have to be 120% sure he's totally fit or otherwise they're running a risk. Obviously I have no right to say whether he was or not - I'm just confused about it too be honest

Hate to stretch a point, but if people like Keane and Babel actually pulled their finger out then we wouldnt have needed to rush him back in the first place. Those two are playing for their LFC careers over the next few months, and they better show some fucking fighting spirit or they can fuck off in January.
