It's tough on Yossi, but it's the nature of a move from a middle-size club to a big club. He goes from being the playmaker who's at the centre of everything to having a bit part. I don't blame him for being frustrated and wouldn't be surprised if he went.

But I hope he stays. As others have said, he has qualities that other squad players don't.

The likes of Benayoun and Pennant are simply not good enough for a team with ambition to win the title. They could both do good job for a team like Blackburn, no offense to Blackburn.

Anyone reckon we could bring back Luis as an impact player if Yossi does go?

Actually thought more of Yossi before he came here, but there again thats MOTD highlights.

Don't have the stats but i thought he contibuted well considering the time he got. The two hat-tricks pad his stats somewhat though i'm sure.

i think 'padding' his stats is a bit of an understatement. havent and waterlooville and Beşiktaş. 6 goals against total dros. i know goals are goals and all that, but 4 goals in the remaining 50 odd games is no great shakes. think he's been disappointing from day one really. some good displays no question, but mainly frustrating and unable to turn up in the big games.

If Rafa walked away from Liverpool, I want Steve Bruce to replace him! I know he looks ugly, but imagine what he can do if he were given resources as much as Rafa was given.

If this is true then goodbye Yossi sorry it didnt work out for you but the step up in class it takes to be a red has beaten many a signing.

Is quite true. Many a player of the year at another club has looked out of his depth at Anfield. Starting to get that feeling about Robbie Keane to be honest - hope I'm wrong.

fuck off Yossi, you have been awful this season. Yes we respect you because you play for liverpool f.c. but this is just bollocks, who are going to pay decent wages for you?

Pennant is a good player. Just because people aren't good enough for Liverpool do you then just assume they're not good Footballers?

Yes!!!  Isn't that the point

Second comings never work. And his tendancy to give the ball away doesn't really fit in with Rafa's 'crushing machine' set up we're seeing where you frustrate the opposition by keeping the ball.

Hearing a lot of his over the last few days, this is by far the most nefative i feel.

Very frustrating player, comes up trumps now and then, but not high enough quality for us really i think to get more time like he wants.

Why the fuck is it we can't manage to keep our subs happy yet teams like the Mancs and Chelsea can?

VDS/Kuszack/Foster

Brown/Neville/Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic/Evans
Evra/O'shea

Ronaldo/Park
Scholes/Anderson
Carrick/Hargreaves/Fletcher
Nani/Giggs

Berbatov/Tevez
Rooney

The difference here is that players like Darby, Insua, Plessis, Nemeth have to go through 3 or 4 players before they make our first team, players like Evans/Rafael/Manucho have to have 1/2 players out.

Also they have had injuries to players like Hargreaves/Scholes so their players haven't had a chance to be pissed off.

For us Riera/Kuyt have been fine all year (touch wood)

I like Benny but I don't think he'll get better than he is at the moment and there are just better players around him to force his way into our starting 11, so if he want's to play regularly them we can't blame him(same as Crouch). I feel El Zhar will be the one to replace him next season, Rafa really likes him(believe he called him his lucky charm). If El Zhar can handle the physical aspect of the prem I think he'll turn out to be a good player for us with good technique, close ball control, eye for a pass and eye for goal, good pace and crossing from wide positions. He also seems to have the heart.

Rafa won't let Benny go in Jan

Unfortunately for Yossi he'll never be a starter for the first 11 in the position that he needs to be, and that's in the hole. From what i've seen, especially this season, he certainly can't cut it on the flanks in the system that we play, and with all that in mind then I think that he probably should go as a very large majority of his time is going to be on the bench. If he doesn't like that idea of being a squad player, then see you later Yossi. While I never begrudge a player his desire to play week in, week out, these players know what Rafa's building here and what his team ideas are.

I hate seeing players come out with shit like this in the media (even if it's been spun out of context which is probably has) as it puts people's backs up. I do wish they'd all shut the fuck up and get on with the jobs that the club is paying them for.

And yet those comments always come up when a player is deemed to be 'not good enough for Liverpool' as if that was their fault. What's quite funny about this thread is that about three months earlier there was a large thread where people were asking for more time on the pitch for Yossi...

Not much wrong with what he's saying. He's not getting the amount of time on the pitch he had hoped for and is saying that he might not be good enough to keep others on the bench, which seems quite a realistic view. He'll never be first choice in our team and if he doesn't want to sit on the bench then it's best for both parties to move on...

I cringe everytime Yossi comes on in place of Rierra. I was pleased when we bought him but had never realised how incredibly light weight he is. He is very much a typical West Ham type of player. He can be so easily muscled out of a tackle. Granted, he has never been a winger, so has always struggled where Rafa has played him. But a word of warning to him, don't do a Crouch and practically disappear into oblivion, because you think you're better than you really are.

If Yossi walks I hope really Pacheco gets his chance to break into 1st team at some point. he's not there yet, I know but boy can he pass the ball. playing him with torres in forseeable future would be a joy to watch. He really had a great game tonight and Rafa was there to watch as well, so if Yossi leaves I'd like to think Rafa's seen enough to give him a go now and then

Can't see Rafa letting him go in January in all honesty. If he does go then it will be in the summer. El Zhar will probably replace him full time from next season onwards.

I think Pennant will definitely be gone in January.

a lot of people have complained that he's not playing in his proper position......who would you have him displace? Gerrard? Alonso?

he's been serviceable - and everyone knows that he was purchased to be a squad player who got the occasional start.  The problem is that he seems to think he should be a regualar first XI player.  too bad.

Benayoun is definitely a good enough squad player, I've always thought of him as our equivalent of Ji Sung Park at the mancs. It's important to have these kind of players in your squad, it's keeping them happy that's the problem.

Yosef Shai "Yossi" Benayoun - Well, my views? A decent player. Had some good games last season, but i wouldn't cry if he left. Another one of those "average" players in our squad of which we have too many. We would do well to get £6million for him and add that to the January transfer kitty when we can go out and buy a genuine world-class right winger.

i wish we had a player like the manc's park ji sun. A player who accepts his role and his happy to be part of a club as prestigioius as ours and is willing to wait for his chances.

There aren't very many players like that but if they are out there we would do well to find them.
Jermaine Pennant perhaps? He's happier to be out of the squad  than to play for Blackburn

not sure i ever believe press reports of quotes from foreign players when they are in their own countries before their own press on international weeks

there are just too many stories of players being reported saying something and backtracking completely when they get home

even if he did say it then i think we have to understand that benayoun is israel's beckham - he has to say something to the press

in any event the quote doesn't say he's deffo leaving and i'm not sure he's that unhappy

he just can't say so to his own press
HE SAID ‘BIGGER’ PEOPLE ‘BIGGER’. OK, MOVE ALONG PEOPLE, THERE’S NOTHING TO SEE HERE
