being settled in England with no long term job prospect or Madrid with buckets loads of cash and a long term contract....

we have every reason to be worried.

I cant believe you just used the words 'Madrid' and 'long term contract' in the same sentance.

Real expects instant success meaning winning the league in style and the CL every other year.  Having a long term contract doesn't mean anything as previous managers have found out.

Bingo.

These are the same bastards who throw tens of millions on galactico players whenever they feel like. Firing a manager and giving him his early termination payment wouldn't even make a dent.

Managerial contract talks are ALWAYS played up by the press, even when there's no story.  They always take a long time, and they always spur newspaper gossip.

If people on this board are so sure G&H only want to 'add value' before a sale, then it's logical to get the best manager tied into a long-term contract.  If, on the other hand you think they plan to stay, with the results as they are, it's logical to get the best manager tied into a long-term contract.

Both scenarios have the same outcome.

Has no one ever heard what Rafa's wife said?

Rafa if you quit Liverpool, me and the kids are settled here, we love the area, and we don't want to go back to spain, so you would be leaving on your own (or something to that effect)

I know for a fact that the children and wife love the Wirral. They love the good schools, and that house on Caldy hill really is a beauty. Why would anyone want to leave.

I doubt Rafa will leave just yet, the timing for the children and his wife just wouldn't be right. The only way he'll leave is if he is pushed, and not offered a new contract.

And would us fans stand for it?

Life would be allot easier and more enjoyable without Tom Hicks and George Gillette for all parties concerned with LFC.  I would not blame Rafa if he walked.  All Rafa has done is take liverpool forward and all he has received is betrayal and deceit from the powers above.  I think our run so far in the league has played a part in Rafa staying and perhaps there is other stuff going on behind the scenes such as a sale etc.  Either way, the fact that he is still here and wants a longer contract shows his strength of character and determination to prevail.  I hope many nasty things fall on H&G for bringing so much unnecessary pain and anger to our club.

Fuckin' A! I'll second that!
G&H really haven't the faintest fucking idea how to run a business together; they haven't a clue. The best thing they can possibly do for all concerned is listen to what  E V E R Y B O D Y  has been saying for Christ knows how long now and piss off, the pair of bedraggled carpetbagging fannies!

One thing i cant get my head around is the time they are taking to sell.  They are both old and i know if i was that age i would be laying on a beach without a worry in the world.  I have mentioned before that the only way the ownership issue could be worse is Hicks retiring and his ginger silver spoon steps up.  That thought makes me sick to the core.  At this point i can see no end.  perhaps its the quietness.

I think it's a mixture of disallusion, pride and stupidity.

I think they both know now that they bit off more than they can chew and they thought owning a Premiership football club would be like an American franchise where supporters don't mind challenging one year and then finishing way down the league the next.

I think they seriously miscalculated the passion the fans hold for our club.

I also think they know they've fucked up since being here but are too proud or ignorant to admit that they've failed and are holding on hoping that we do something this year so that they can line there pockets with abit more cash after selling the club and then start bragging to there golf buddies that we've won this or that thanks to there ownership and influence.

I just think that the Global recession has helped the fans find them out alot quicker than we might possibly have done if the world hadn't gone into recession.

One thing i cant get my head around is the time they are taking to sell.

Perhaps the rather more prosaic - and depressing - reason they are taking so long to sell is because in the current market there are not many buyers, particularly for a club saddled in debt, and one whose debt exceeds its value (a.k.a in the domestic property world "negative equity").

We are not alone.  Newcastle, Everton and Portsmouth are all openly seeking a buyer; West Ham are less publicly doing so.  All are struggling at the moment given market conditions.

We are by far the most prestigous of the clubs for sale but alas we are also saddled in debt, to the extent that any new owner would need exceedingly deep pockets to make it worthwhile to buy us.

In fact, given our debt the ONLY type of buyer prepared to buy us would be one who is not looking for any ROI.  We are simply too debt ridden to be an attractive proposition for anyone looking to make money.  oNly someone happy to buy us and run us at a loss will look at us, and there are not too many of them around.

The reason G&H are taking so long to sell is not for want of trying; its for want of buyers!

Makes sense,  The only buyer that fits your description would be the sheikh.  It would be great if he swooped in before January. Do you think Hicks apparent dislike of the sheikh would be a stumbling block if the sheikh put out another offer.

No.  I am absolutely sure that if the Sheikh formally put in a bid approaching this alleged £500M offer we hear so much about, it would be accepted.

Its not the “£500.000.000” it’s the terms of the deal. Hick AND Gillett still want future earnings, naming rights and percentage of the sponsorships.
Rafa will get an extension, as its been said before; a stable club (franchise, as Gillett puts it) is more attractive than a club on the verge of losing a top manager followed by top players.
This is what you would want to buy if you where Mo, top club, top manager and a TOP team fighting at the top end of the table coupled with the champs league.

But why would you want to buy into something the previous owners had plunged into massive debt, fucked over and still wanted their slimy fingers on???
I hope someone somewhere is bonkers enough to shoot them both the greedy fuckers!

He will not be buying a club with debt; this will be paid by the buy out (if a buy out at all???)
The terms will be based on future earnings that the club make over a period of time.

Hicks still wants to keep hold of us but from what I have been told he can not keep hold of us in the currant climate for much longer.
Cant say anymore than that, but we will soon see.

Lee harvey Oswald is busy atm but i'm sure we could persuade someone...

I think the neg equity issue is going to be the stumbling block for any take over especially as G and H want a profit from the sale too. Their best hope is the extension we win the league and then they sell a championship winning club. I only hope one of those 3 things mentioned comes off!

Hi, I am a regular visitor to Rawk, and I occasionally do post as well.
However, lately, I have been checking this forum too long in the hope of reading some good news regarding the takeover.  I know that some people will tell me that there was nothing new to report, but how come, that after so many articles in the media, posts on the forums, and no official announcements on .tv, there is absolute silence?

It sounds as if there is a consensus between the media to keep this quiet?  Hopefully, this silence will prove to be golden!
