Wigan are a tough game, we should win, and I think we will, but we shouldn´t expect to win based solely on the fact we are currently top of the table.

I do indeed think Bruce has a BIG fat head....however if we are talking fat heads, on a personal level I think 'BIG' Sam 'Cowhead' Alladyce's head is the king of BIG fat heads......

This will be a tough game, we only got a point last season and they are lot stronger this season with the addition of Zaki.

Lets hope we dont get any injuries in the internationals and if all are fit I would expect:

                  Reina
Arbs    Carra    Agger   Dossena
Kuyt     Xabi    Stevie    Riera
          Keane    Torres

1-0 Keane

Torres is fucking rubbish, played some decent football 2 years ago and nothing since!  If we buy him,we'll end up paying ridiculous amount of money on some overhyped shite of a player instead of focusing our attention(and money) on some truly world class strikers!!!

thats`s a good point, if agger does have a weakness in his game it`s that he can struggle a bit against physical forwards who are strong in the air.
zaki and heskey are big lads and carragher cant mark both of them, i`d seriously think about putting sami in for the wigan game.

Although Agger is slightly prone to struggle against big men I'd play him as we will probably monopolise possesion depriving Zaki of much service. So far we have still struggled to break teams down in the first half, so with all that possesion at home, hopefully Agger increase our ability to break teams down, through better passing from the back

Definitely Agger to play, if we were away then I would have gone for Carra/Sami to negate the Heskey/Zaki combo

Does anyone else think that Aurelio has played himself out of the starting squad for the forseeable future? He was really exposed on Sunday, but was it a matter of a "bad matchup" for him or a sign that he is not good enough?

If Rafa walked away from Liverpool, I want Steve Bruce to replace him! I know he looks ugly, but imagine what he can do if he were given resources as much as Rafa was given.

I think he was also carrying a slight calf injury, which probably didn't help...

I'd absolutely love to see Rafa go at them with two wingers in Babel and Riera, as they're most likely to have 10 men behind the ball. Not going to happen though.
It wouldn't be Liverpool if we didn't do it the hard way... ask Gareth Southgate.

Didn't know that, thanks for the info. That would help to explain what I'd seen as a dismal effort.

Unlike most of you, International break's aren't that bad in Oz, yes I would rather have LFC play, but the national team is worth following here.

The international breaks are a killer for me. I like watching the Socceroos play as well, but I can honestly say if Australia were playing Argentina on one channel and Liverpool were playing CSKA Albuquerque on another I'd be watching the Reds without fail. Can't stand weekends without Liverpool.

Reina

Arbeloa     Carra     Agger     Dossena

Kuyt       Gerrard     Alonso      Riera

                Torres     Keane

Is what I'd like to see. Reckon this is the game we might see an early goal from us (a corner mind you!!) and the floodgates open. 4-0.

Bench:

Kuyt
Benayoun
Lucas
Dossena
Hyypia
Cavalleri

Agree. I think we will trash em 3/4-0. Torres and Keane, before we Babel time them at the end. Aurelio was poor against City because of a calf strain, but will be fine for Wigan so The Doss is still on the bench.

Yeah..... Dossena and Aurelio was a toss up for me. One or the other, not fussed which one. And I assumed that Masch would be playing in some faraway place so mightn't be so fresh.

I wonder how things would go if we started Babel and bought Riera on for him later instead of the other way around?

Riera has been playin well, wouldn't be fair to drop him, Babel is better off the bench, but I wouldn't be overly upset if that was the case as we should beat Wigan regardless.

Wigan, its like a mini North-West derby for us.
So far we have won 2 of the north-west derby. ManU & Neverton..

I'm convince we can pull this one off. with Torres will score another brace & Keane will get one goal

its all about tempo this game and how we start. Obvioulsy theyre gonna come and sit deep, 10 men behind the ball and make it hard for us to break them down as usuall with the small clubs who come here.

if we come flying out the traps and try to get an early goal it will make them change their tactics and draw them out to try and get something from the game, we will then go on to win this comfortably.  It was the same with Stoke, if Gerrards Goal had stood we would have gone on to win comfortably but the longer them game goes without scoring the deeper they get and the harder it is to break them down.

we need to get straight at these from the KO, really high tempo and try and get an eraly goal, if we do we'll win no problem.
Come on you mighty fucking red men!

I think its obviously a must home win but even more with the fact that its Chelsea the next game up, it would be good to go there with the same points, they have got Boro away on the day we have got Wigan and with all the hopes in the world i cant see Boro doing us any favours although the russians kick off early on the Saturday so we will know their result before we kick off
i can tip em but cant back em
