Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone

Now, I'm not a 'paint black tears down my face and have a ridiculous haircut while I slice my wrist because I think I'm sad' sort of guy, opposite so some that listen to Slipknot but I got hold of their new album today and after a few listenthroughs,  it comes across as really really good! They're angry, but not as angry as in 'Iowa' which is my favorite album, but stil pretty darn aggressive. Gematria, Vendetta, All Hope Is Gone and Gehenna are on the top of the list after a few listens.  'Dead Memories' belongs more on a Stone Sour album and 'Snuff' can just go fuck itself. Eww!

Anyway, a very good album and I'm certainly not left disappointed. 'Iowa' still on top of the albumlist though.

As if to cling on to my angst ridden teenage years, and dispite my taste in music changing a lot since i first ever heard Slipknot, i still love 'em! Which is quite strange. Have never been able to put my finger on what i like about them so much, and theyre quite out of place with most of the stuff i tend to listen to now.

New album is excellent. Not as good as Vol. 3, which is such a diverse album. Also has to be said they put most bands to shame when performing live!

I think they are a band that often gets judged before anyone properly listens to them, or people form their opinions of them on what they heard of Slipknot a decade ago.
Its just solid, catchy metal!

Good musicians? Good vocalist? Some excellent melodies? Plenty there to like but also plenty to dislike

I'm not a fan but I'm also not an hater of there music,
but i do agree that people judge them far to quick, people I know said stuff like there just a gimmick band with no form of talent so I gave them a listen to some of Stone Sour's stuff and they loved that and was then completely shocked when I told them that the lead singer of Stone Sour is also the lead singer of Slipknot.

always loved their debut an still my favourite album but have'nt listened to this yet but have heard very good reviews about it

cant believe its nearly 10 years since they first came on the scene,wheres my youth disappearin to??

I love some songs and think a couple of them are a complete disaster. Overall its a really good album though, worth the wait :)

It's been 10 years for their major label debut, but they released an ep called Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. before that in the mid ninties. Very different sound to the Slipknot that is known to the masses. I've got a burned copy from a friend.

I've been youtubing (shame I can't find it anywhere else, I'd love for it to be on my computer) it and the song 'Gently' from Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat has the same lyrics as on Iowa. I've always loved Gently from Iowa, but this version is so much better. I need this album!
