Onwards and upwards!

Crucial game, no messing about full strength team, let's hope for a proper European Night atmosphere (well let's hope).

40k there do you think?

Will Babel start? Masch and Lucas are inelligible I think. So same team as yesterday is likely.

We'll win it comfortably and Keane will bang one in at least/last.

Last season's 4-0 romp over Tolouse was the first time we've dealt comfortably with a CL qualifier.

We always expect to roll over the opposition, we're always a bit rusty at this stage of the season (and this year we're REALLY rusty) and the opposition know it's their cup final so play out of their skin. Hopefully the first leg battering will give us the wake-up call we haven't really had in previous years.

Dropping Keane is a risk. I'd only play that system with a fully fit Masch.

This is an absolutely vital match for us.

Apart from the finances involved we've seen what happens to teams that don't get past the Qualifying round - they suffer a huge drop in confidence and form and often don't recover until after Christmas.

Rafa's said that Mash won't be considered as he won't have recovered from his flight back from China. He is certainly eligible.

Neither will it be easy - if Liege score then the pressure will really be on. Rafa will take no chances whatsoever with this one and you can expect his strongest side out on the night.

"Everybody at Anfield hopes that in the not too distant future Bill Shankly will lead the club back to the First Division - and also to a Cup Final victory."

If we're missing both Masch and Lucas, then I'm officially worried about our chances of getting through.

yeah mate, if they score we are really in the shit, especially the way we have been playing.
even if we are 1-0 up the last 10 minutes will be unbearable, the whole ground will be on edge, and going out at this stage and missing out on all that dough would be a disaster.
you can imagine next seasons transfer budget if we miss out on the cl.

We are very very lucky to still even be in the game the way we played, easily should have been 3 down maybe 4
The way we have been playing since doesnt really fill me with confidence either.
Will be like the chelsea , arsenal semi finals for me to be honest, unless we are 2/3 up with 10 mins left.

Got a feeling we might take a bit of a risk and put Gerrard on the bench.  He looked well short of match fitness (and apparently hasn't been able to train properly for a couple of weeks now) at the weekend....maybe we'll put him on the bench and only bring him on if we're in deep doo-doo.

Liverpool have to be very very careful this wednesday as this tie is not over by a long chalk , liverpool need to improve at least 60-70% to make sure that we get through , personally if we got knocked out it would be an utter disaster  , yes we should win and go through but liverpool are not playing well and its took 2 fantastic goals to win us the two league games and they dont happen every time , I am expecting to go through but it wont be a quiet ride on weds .

I would not be at all suprised if that is exactly what happened.....IF we had Masch or Lucas. Given we don't I feel this would be a very risky lineup:

Out of interest, if we did lose (we wont... but i would like to see what people say before the match just in case) what would your response be?

A) Rafa stays (oppose any notion of sacking)
B) Push for Rafa to be sacked
C) If the board sack rafa support it

For what its worth i am fully behind rafa, thus option A

Very anxious about this... hoping Xabi and Stevie play much better than they did yesterday in the middle, otherwise we'll find it very hard again.

Absolutely don't want to think about what will happen if we lose, and to be honest, that's not as far-fetched a thought as it should be...

If we do lose there'll be plenty on here at 10pm on Wednesday night asking for Rafa's head on a plate. However, it would be totally unjustified given what he has done in Europe since he arrived.

If the place is rocking as I expect it will be at 8 o clock on a European
night at Anfield, I think with hopefully the idea and formation to take the game
to them right from the off I can see us scoring a few goals and being comfortable.
But it won't be easy we saw they have a few useful players and could easily cause
problems on the counter.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

We're going to batter this mob on Wednesday..They had their big chance in the first leg and blew it.

This is like one of those FA cup games against a lower league side where they get a draw in the first leg and then in the replay the little side crumble cos they can't possibly raise their game to a higher level twice.I reckon we'll win 3-0 easy. :)
