Another chance to see whether Kuyt and Benayoun are up to the job.

I hope I'm proven wrong, but I'd rather see a new right and left wing after September 1st. Kuyt and Benayoun should be backups.

Even when he has done, he never shoots, he just tries to walk his way to the net.

looks good apart from the wings, but thats all we've got, hope to see Babel in the 2nd half

Seriously....
I for one hope that Kuyt gets the winner today so that some people start to realise that getting behind the players instead of the opposite is the way forward if we want to be contenders this year.

wonder what's going on with Agger, easing him back in slowly or rotating our two footy playing centre-halves to keep them fresh?

Interesting and attacking line up, I'd quite like to see 4-3-3 employed with this line up. Kuyts work rate could be very useful in the middle... but likely 4-4-2

Agree with the poster.
Kuyt - our fantastic defensive-striker-turned-right-back-who-plays-right-side-attacker-not-winger - is not going to be effective against Boro. We need a more attacking, skillful, and generally non-Kuyt option, esp Home against Boro. And Rafa persists in playing him. So yeah...

Three minutes and 1 second for the first twat in the in match thread. Surely that's a new record even for an ingame thread?

Have to say I'm surprised that Agger is not included...

I take full responsibility for that - he's in my fantasy football team.

The quality, or lets say lack of eaperience on the bench is concerning. 4 of the seven have hardly played a premier league game (ok, Plessis played 2 and a half i think).  This is a reflection of the lack of strength in depth.

The continued freezing out of Voronin, Finnan and Pennant is noted.  If the end up staying coz no one else wants them the will not be happy campers.

Fair point.  Its great having 4 quality CB's who we can interchange without reducing the quality of the defence.  We've been missing that at least since Rafa arrived and before as well.  I think it was a mistake selling Henchoz in 2004, should have kept him for that season.  But alls well that ends well.

I'm hoping Babel gets on before 60 mins.

0-0 first half, 2-0 ft.

Because Babel, our winger who fits the bill, only got back from the Far East this week, and isn't 100% after his injury.

And if Kuyt can be effective there against Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter Milan, why not against the mighty Boro?

No, but he's the only one recovering from a year-long injury that recurred three times.
