Right here is my attempt.

to the tune of The Searchers song "When you walk in the room"

The one with the great guitar intro. Remember The Searchers were a Merseybeat band in the Sixties. And the tune is great too!

here it is 60's moptops and everything...

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1RGC75RQjec

"I can see a number 7 wearing Red,

He scores a goal and the other team wish they had him, instead,

I can hear the Kopites singing Robbie Keane,

Every time that HE comes on the scene"

Thoughts?

The wild rover is a great tune but it's too complicated a song to sing during a game.
The "let it be" song would be great but it needs just one verse before the chorus, something simple like this below:

When I find myself in times of trouble,
Number seven comes to me,
Speaking words of wisdom,
Robbie Keane,

Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane,
Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane,
Libpool's number seven,
Robbie Keane
To support - to agree with and give encouragement to someone or something because you want them to succeed, especially in their times of need.
To boo - to make an expression of strong disapproval or disagreement against someone or something even when they are top of the league, usually done by gobshites.

Yes, a traditional Irish song would be more significant than a Beatles song with just Keane stuck in it.

Wild Rover gets my vote, possibly a little tinkering with the lyrics still, one for the pubs I reckon before it gets on the Kop.
I think I'll sit this one out in the safety cupboard

from the other keane thread

To 'Wild Rover'.

Our last number 7's have been quite obscene,
So Rafa said go forth and sign Robbie Keane,
We had Houghton and Whelan in great sides before,
Now the Kop has a great Irish hero once more.
And it's Keane wearing seven *clap clap clap clap*
He creates and he scores.
And he'll take us to heaven,
Like King Kenny before.

I mean I like Let it be as song, but it doesn't take much creativity to replace Let it be with Robbie Keane, and it doesn't really say anything about him. Don't see what the big deal is over that version

that is fucking class mate, hats off lad.

it will suffer the same problems as the longer songs we have like PST and Liverbird, which is why the 'Let it be' one which catch on - like the other short chants. Would really like to hear this one next season though.

the lyrics have been improved throughout the thread, but I would imagine just singing the chorus at the games would suffice, and the chorus is just as long as Let it be, but not as slow, and the lyrics are more creative than just saying Robbie Keane a bunch of times.  Torres song has a bit of words to it, same with campione (although that died fast (never was a big fan in the first place tbh))

Quote from: Romford_Red on July 29, 2008, 12:16:26 PM
 Song for Robbie Keane...
(never done one of these before, so apologies if this is shit)

Song suggested and chorus done (to the best of my knowledge, apologies if it was someone else) by theredworm...

To the Beatles 'Let it be'

When we found ourselves with striker worries, good old Rafa said to me,
there will be an answer: Robbie Keane.
When Torres, Stevie, and Dirk aren't scoring, who'll turn one point to three?
Our new Irish striker: Robbie Keane.

Robbie Keane,
Robbie Keane,
Robbie Keane,
Robbie Keane,
There will be an answer - Robbie Keane

Fantastic

This one's better than mine. I had a variation I thought of today, but I like this one probably better. My variation was close to this, as in...

When our strikers found themselves in trouble
Brother Rafa came to me
Speaking words of wisdom... Robbie Keane!
And when the other strikers struggle
He is standing right in front of goal
Scoring goals aplenty... Robbie Keane!

Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane!
Robbie Keane, oh, Robbie Keane!
Liverpool's number seven
Robbie Keane!

TBH, really don't like any of the others that aren't a variation of Let It Be.
Football fan, yes, but fan of many other sports, too.

Why does every c*nt on here think they`re Lennon or McCartney, but more like Louis Walsh? Instead of composing a 42 verse ballad, just find a fucking tune that the words Robbie Keane fit into and repeat and repeat again and again and again.......etc.BINGO.

How about this one, to the tune of Copacabana

His name is Robbie
Robbie Keane
When you get him on the ball,
then you know he´s gonna score
He is a Liverpool fan
and now he is the man
When him and Torres get together
Who could ask for more?!!!
His name is Robbie
Robbie Keane...

Perfect, more in keeping with the singing Kop philosophy and more original than the Father Ted.  Also reckon it would be harder for other teams to hijack

It would sound amazing resonating around the Kop!
