Anyway, a mate of mine came up with a good idea to get rid of the penalty shoot outs in the play offs. He said in the event of a draw after extra time they should award the victory to the team who finished highest in the league. Seems like a good idea to me. At least one team would be forced to take the game to the other side in the 2nd extra period and at the end of the day the team that finished higher in the league is the better side so deserve to go through.

Yeah true but extra times are often turgid affairs anyway and although players claim not to like penalty shootouts they often seem to play as if they are scared to concede a goal in the latter stages, preferring to take their chances from the spot.

Well yes that's true mate but there's little doubt the play-offs keep a number of teams interested until the end of the season. Compared to what it used to be like when some sides had their sandals on with a few games to go.

Prefered TenderFoot meself. In honesty, just about remember them serials. When we first moved to Kirkby, they used to show pictures in the community centre on a Saturday morning for the kids. It was bonkers, all kicking off, running round, carrying on. They used to have a little talent show inbetween pictures. Kids used to get up and sing on the stage and get all sorts of shite and abuse hurled at them. I sort of only vaguely remember then now though, except for one lad getting twatted with a mambo. It was a long time ago. I was about 30, I think.
