Rash on me arms today...
« on: May 6, 2008, 08:49:59 PM »
I came out in a rash today, it is on both my lower arms. It isn't raised or bumpy so i don't think it is prickly heat, possibly a heat rash.

Any tips on how to keep it away would be appreciated.  ;)

There is of course that any rash should really be evaluated by a professional to rule out it being anything serious.

99% of rashes are nothing and are just caused by allergies or coming into contact with things your skin doesn't like, but they can also indicate serious conditions, with meningitus being the most obvious.

My guess is you didn't come on here to ask how to get rid of it, but wanted to know if it was serious without wanting to sound like you're worried about it. It most probably isn't serious, but unless you have had this kind of rash a lot before and know what causes it (I'm guessing not by the way the thread is written) then I would get to a GP ASAP and rule out it being anything serious.

Might sound like I am being over the top here but it really isn't worth risking a serious condition for the sake of a couple hours at the GP. Plus, after he has identified it and ruled out it being serious, he is also going to know exactly how to treat it, rather than people on here, who, with all due respect haven't seen the rash, do not know your allergies, personal circumstances etc, and can only offer very general advice which you can find on google.

I have asked many questions on RAWK and got many helpful answers, however if I was concerned about my personal health I would go to a qualified professional who could evaluate my situation, not the off-topic section of RAWK. :)

Bleach.

Bleach continues to be used in some places to treat infected wounds. It's called Dakins Solution. A mixture of clorox and either normal saline or sterile water. Different strengths are used.

however, bleach is not a sovereign remedy either for rat claw scrapes or getting punched in the nads...  ;)

If some critter scratches, bites, claws, nibbles, scrapes, rubs my skin, the first thing I do is apply clorox. Full strength. It kills everything nasty. Don't think it will do much for bruised testicles though.  ;)

Went out without my top on in the sun for the first time properly today, ended up with a sun rash on my back, never had this before, do you know if this quite common if you haven't been out in the sun for a long time?

cortisone cream and benadryl should do it

No , no , no!     That is only a short term remedy that treats the symptom and not the cause. I once had a rash on each arm by the crease on forearm. I went to the doctor and he gave ne that cream stuff. I notice that the rashes were on my liver meridian. I went to get my liver checked out at there was a problem forming. I went to herbalist and then done a liver cleanse.

Have a guess what happend?
