Krisztián Németh progression thread.
« on: April 27, 2008, 03:59:05 AM »
One of the many shining lights of the reserve team this year.

He's been putting in dazzling displays week in week out.

We saw Plessis and Insua get a run in the first this season, and surely Nemeth is next to get a look in.

Could he be our number 10.

Not only is his finishing quality but also his link up play is top class.

He's averaging almost a game a goal for the ressies.

Here is some video's to see him in action.

He is a wonderfull little player who ceetainly knows how to score the problem with bringing youth into attack is unless they have a group of hard bastards around them ala GOD or are fast enough to skip tackles ala Michael i'll never win another trophy Owen defenders smash them to bits..

I get a massive buzz whenever i see yound Pourie play,he's quick skillfull, can finish like Nemeth but he looks like he's gonna be a bit bigger..

Oh and i like my number 10's to play on the left and the number 7 is a big shirt to fill (a new face in it for next season eh)

He looks good to me.  Not sure about the 'new owen' label, he seems, if anything, a bit of a garcia?  A lot of intelligence to his game.

His footwork is somewhat reminiscent of a certain Harry Kewell back at Leeds. This kid is a bright talent and Im very annoyed he hasnt had a taste of Premier League duty yet.

He's a future number 10 for us

boy have we missed a garcia character this season. someone from midfield to just pull an amazing goal out of nowhere.

I have watched the reserves avidly this year, much like many of you I suspect, and the guy has got a lot of talent.

He is very clever with his passing, and flicks, often a high completion rate of the supposed low percentage balls.

I think there is significant room for improvement in his finishing, but that is to be expected.

He is very strong for a short arse, which is useful, but he does lack a little pace.

In terms of comparisons, I don't think he is too different to Fowler. Not suggesting he is going to be as good of course, but similar sort of player.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

But he misses a lot of chances, you could see that especially in the Newcastle game where he has a lot of nice touches, passes and moves but he can't find the net. Here you see him missing chances too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ1Zk17tWrg , by the way what about Amoo? Is he good?

True and it is also ironic that Torres at Newcastle missed 3 or 4 great chances. I too would have liked to see Nemeth get a game at Brum.

Why didn't he play yesterday instead of Voronin? :no

Surely Rafa's seen enough of Voronin by now to realise he's not up to it and it would have been useful experience for Nemeth.

I'm glad you lot like him, good to hear praises for a Hungarian player at last. He might break the István Kozma spell..;)

I think Rafa knows his abilities well but don't want to throw him into the nest too early. Our youngsters have a history of having a bag of potential but failing miserably under pressure. One counter-example is Gera, who arrived to England as a mentally strong, all-around player and did well in West Brom so far (and you can expect to see more of him next year). I'd like to see him get some minutes this year,  but i'd trade that for a more regular role in the future.

Gera is a quality player and I am surprised West Brom have managed to hang on to him.
He's a manipulative bastard. Another deliberate attempt to put pressure on people in the game, which he thinks he'll get away with because of his "standing" in the game and his fucking knighthood.

A bit offtopic, but it has something to do with his personality, as they promised to build a Championship winning team with him being a key player (which more or less happened), he decided to go with it. He aimed for a transfer to a more solid PL team though when they were relegated but West Brom's asking price was too high.

I would love to see him play.  I don't get to watch the reserves and whatever I read about him seems to be giving him the thumbs up.  I would love to see him make his first team debut in one of the remaining games.

Gera is still the best Hungarian player, by some distance.  I agree - I'm also surprised that no-one else has come in for him.

I hope Németh will get a chance to show his worth in the first team.

In terms of comparisons, I don't think he is too different to Fowler. Not suggesting he is going to be as good of course, but similar sort of player.
The similarity in style to Fowler was my first impression as well, although he favours his right rather than his left foot.  I think he's a (skillful) number 9, not a 7 (or '10').

Not wanting to put a downer on it, because he does look like a fantastic talent, but here's why I wouldn't play him just yet!

He spent the first 5 months of the season out with a serious injury, he really hasn't played that many games.

If you look at the likes of Plessis and Leto who were pitched into the first team, they have flattered to deceive and only occasionally step up to the plate. The same could be said of Lucas, although he is far more developed that any of the reserves.

If the guy is a confidence player (he may or may not be!), then putting him the first XI may actually be a backward step not a forward one. One bad game could put him back 3-6 months development.

I say put him on the bench now the top 4 is guaranteed, and bring him on for the last 15 minutes or so just to give him a taster.

Nope, but wasn't quite 5 months.

He made his debut at the end of november against Man Citeh. So 4 months.

Yeah I know, just that we haven't played many reserves, but they do need time to settle in. Plessis has got better and better throughout the season. At the start he looked like Traore in midfield, but has improved beyond recognition over the last 8 months. Nemeth is only 18, and I don't want him turning into another Neil Mellor. ;-)
