Colbert Report comes to UK
FX buys satire show

Comedy Central  Cable channel FX has bought the rights to air American satirical news show The Colbert Report in Britain.
The acclaimed programme is a spin-off from The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, which airs on More4 in the UK. Both are shown on Comedy Central in the States.

Emmy-winning host Stephen Colbert was previously a correspondent on The Daily Show, before landing his own series n 2005. In 2006, he ‘roasted’ President Bush at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

colbert report is great, have been watching bits on the comedy central website since I first saw him in 2006 when more4 had the hour long daily show/colbert report mid term special, was brilliant he was going to abandon the show until he realised the democrats had spent too long dealing with an unwinnable war.

was top quality in philadelphia last week.

Great news, I download this when I can and it's hilarious. Hope FX can show it 24 hours after the US does, like More 4 do with Jon Stewart.

I love this show. Colbert is a master.

Did you know, he recently played a couple of nights with the US troops in Eyerack (golf club and all), and Obama came on satlink and ordered the top sergeant guy to shave Colbert's head, which the sergeant then did.

Colbertnation.com, folks, go and see for yourselves.

The Iraq shows were superb. Pisser that FX seems to have dumped the show, but it's another one for the download queue I guess....

There was a brilliant episode on the other night. You may have heard of the "Birther" movement in the US, who are basically a group of lunatics who believe that Obama isn't a US citizen and shouldn't be President. Colbert interviewed one of the main leaders of this movement and absolutely ripped the piss out of her without her knowing:

My favourite part: "Wait a second...Barack Obama is a vampire from Connecticut?"

I hadn't seen that, thanks. She is a fucking nutjob, but that's the value of Colbert. I've seen other clips of her where she sounds almost normal, but Stephen draws them out.

The smartest interviewer around. I admire his truthiness.

And fearless too. The Dubya toast he gave a few years back was really ballsy. ('As a republican I believe in small government. In fact, the less a government does, the better. And by these standards we've set up a great government in Iraq'.
'Opinion polls say your approval rating is at 32%. But what are opinion polls but a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in reality. And reality has a well known liberal bias'.
All while standing 2 feet away from him.

More 4 are ending their news program at 8.00
FX have stopped showing Colbert some time ago.

Nation, its time that More 4 followed the Comedy Central lead and show the Daily Show at 8.00 and Colbert Report at 8.30.
And that's tonight's Word.

And in a recent show, he got Woody Harrelson, a self avowed pacifist to do the same, in support of the troops.

Corkboy, did you see Stephen singing with Elvis Costello last week?
Elvis was just playing the guitar, but Colbert's got a really good voice.
Got audio only here

I did and he does. He does a nice bass counterpoint to Woody Harrelson in that last clip. He's very talented, if you even compare him with Jon Stewart, he's much more comical, he has great physical presence. He can sing, he can raise an eyebrow, I bet he can dance, too.

Comedy Central fascists have pulled it from youtube. You know, in case people wanted to watch it again. And, maybe, you know, start watching the show on comedy central. Brainless twunts.

I love the Brooks Brothers hoodie suit. Been a while since I've seen that on the show.
