Same old, same old against the Mancs.

Our keepers forget how to catch a ball or deal with crosses, defenders forget how to mark and tackle, periods of good play with no end product and someone always gets stupidly sent off.  Not to mention the other ingrediant, the referee - who is in Fergie's pocket.

If it wasn't for the Ashley Cole incident, Masch would've still been on the pitch - although he was stupid to keep hounding the ref.

All in all, those scum unfortunately have a better team than us, better on the ball, and have a better stronger mentality.  We need some top players and stronger belief if we are to beat them.

We lost this when Bennett booked Torres. That was a ridiculous decision. He didn't look as if he'd raised his voice or anything, just pointed out that he had been several times already. And he got booked for it. All because of Cole being a prick the other day.
Masch was asking to be sent off to be honest, I think it was a bit of a harsh decision, but he'd been in the ear of the ref quite a bit, and it was a silly thing to do, when he  must have seen that Torres had just been booked for showing the tiniest bit of dissent. I don't know why Alonso, having got hold of Masch and dragged him away, then let him go.
That was the turning point of the match.
Second half when Ferdinand got booked for kicking the ball away, you didn't have to have much skill as a li reader to see that he told the ref something along the lines of "fuck off". But was he booked a second time? No, because he'd just been booked, and so Bennett bottled it. No consistency at all.

And then in the second half, after we'd been looking good for 10 minutes or so, we go and concede. Why is it that we always seem to do that? We play well for a bit with no product, and then concede a sloppy goal.

Reina had a shocker for us. His kicking was all over the place, as was his claiming crosses. Just as well it didn't seem to affect his shot-stopping ability, or we could have conceded a lot more.

well, deflated but the only surprise was the amount of goals in reality. Anyone who expected us to get anything other than a draw was truly deluded, given their ability to get lucky scrappy goals against us, and our overall record there.

The attack started brightly, but were sadly let down by the defence. Carragher being the chief culprit by not providing a solid base to build from but give the mancs an impetus to come forward. Difference between Carragher and Hyypia is clear - Hyypia may have lost his legs, can even be out of form but will still turn in the solid dependable performances you need. Carragher can't, he's at the final point of a three season peak, clearly illustrates the difference between form and class.

Mascherano's first yellow? Bit early but yeah, would be given in most games I reckon - his second was a fucking joke - when did players lose the ability to question a decision? Fucking hell, a referee is supposed to be impartial and treat each incident separate and exclusive to any others, and when did saying 'What's happening' deserve a yellow card?

Having said that, the goal came beforehand, and it was typical O'Shea/Ferdinand BS type of goal. Pepe should have come for it, Skrtel left it for his keeper but should have jumped as he just provided more leverage for orange gob.

Gerrard was not up for it until the second half and did nothing to pick or gee up his team mates. Alonso was fucking anonymous and was only noticed by not picking up his man and having his token cyncial foul.

Apart from that, SKrtel cannot play with someone who isn't a strong header because if the ball drops in behind him, he's fucked. Fabio did well to contain Ronaldo and had a few deft touches, Arbeloa the same but looked slightly rustier.

Torres was a fucking hero, as was Babel who had ot be sacrificed for the good of the team and work rate. Kuyt had a few good touches and interplay without really threatening.

As I say, Gerrard, Carragher and Alonso didn't turn up, and when that's the base we're building success from, the other players really can't do too much. If the midfield can't give the forntmen the ball, then it just pulls us deeper, which is what happened.

Fucked off.

Anyway, it's over now - thank fuck the bitters were held and let's fuckin do them properly next week. And I would happily let the team lie down for Arsenal because of those teo pricks, Hackett and Bennett

If the ref was really trying to be strict, then why the hell did he not give Ronaldo a yellow for diving in the box??

The only person I can offer some credit to today is Andy Gray, he couldn't hide his disgust of Bennett at half time about Masch being sent off.

It was surreal to see Gray arguing in favour of a Liverpool player against an ex-Liverpool captain...

Having said that, it was dickface Redknapp. How the fuck he was our captain when Robbie was here I'll never know. I suppose the saving grace is that he basically never got to wear the armband due to his injuries...disgrace to the club.

Simple breakdown of todays game:

1: Two bad mistakes by Pep for 1st & 2nd goals. Although without him it could have been 8 r 9-0. Some great saves.
2: 3rd goals waw scored when match was already over, although I though Skrtel should have done better for it. He didnt have the best of games but wasnt the only culprit.
3: Bennet is a massive c*nt Hope that he gets fired and ends up eating shit
4: We are still a few players short of winning the PL. Not that many though as I think the leauge doesnt paint a truly accuarte picture of how we have progressed.
5: Yes, Masch was a little bit hot headed in getting involved, but fir fuck sake, he only asked  "whats happening". As for the cuntbag ref, see point 3.
6: The loss is damaging but we wre probably never gonna really challenge at this stage of the season. Important game next week against the bitters.
7: I hope that someone torches that c*nt Bennets car.
8: Im off to get drunk and fight with the wife.

If that's dissent then well ......
Couldn't agree more, Keith Hackett critisised bennett for not telling Mike Riley in the spurs v chelsea game, to send cashley cole off  ( he was the fourth official), Bennett trying to make a point ?

Neither Masch's yellows were yellows.  The ref cost us any chance of getting a point.  If I were Masch I would have dropped the c*nt after that second yellow.

Fuck off and die Bennett, you odious cock-sucking little turd.

In fucking one.

Hard to take any positives from that, apart from Mascherano's fighting spirit.

Too many school boy errors initally (underhit passes all over the place, Reina a bundle of nerves etc) rendered terminal by the sending off. Not much to say really, except that we truly do have a monumental mental block when up against these guys. It's fucking infuriating to see us lie down time and time again.

The only thing that I want to say is : if we want to win against the mancs, we will need to convince our players mentally we can do it and we can match them.  And that is what our manager and our captain has to do, but didn't today.

I am sure some of us would use fucking Bennant or masch as an excuse, but that would be an easy excuse.

The only player who can come out of this fixture with an ounce of pride is Dirk Kuyt. Criticise him all you like, but he always gives his all and doesn't bottle it against the top sides like many of ours did today.

True, but his all isn't good enough. Think Rafa made a mistake in taking Babel off and keeping Kuyt on. When you're down to 10 men you need pace up front, and Kuyt offers none of that. Reminded me of when Hyypia got sent off at OT a few years back and Ged took off Baros instead of Heskey. Big mistake.

Saying that, I don't think we should be as fucked off about today as some games against the Mancs. You just can't play against them and a bent referee, and Bennett was bent as fuck. How Torres got booked was unbelievable, and Masch had every right to query that.

When you have a teammate sent off and it's justified, you roll your sleeves up and get on with it. But when the sending off is so bad you just sense the ref is against you and there's nothing you can do. You know the game is up. By the same token, the home side know they can get away with murder, and they did: shirt tugging, pulling back, diving.

The game was up when Masch went. But let's move on. All those fans saying 'Here's how we're gonna win the title' were deluding themselves anyway. This result makes little difference to the reality of where we are. For all that we can criticise the ref today, credit where it's due - the Mancs are a better side. End of.

Masch is basically our captain on the pitch (that's right, Stevie) so of course he's going to want to speak to you, ref.

you drunk? When he is wearing the armband he can go and give the ref some stick about his decisions, until then he keeps his mouth shut. Can't believe you are defending him, the ref was awful, we were awful and mascherano was in the wrong.

I thought the ref had no choice but to send him off. I do think that our captain should have been stepping in there to stop it all happening but I don't think he played in the first half did he?

The ref needs shooting but I would prefer to look at the positives.

Kuyt was bloody brilliant, didn't put a foot wrong and never stopped working, put Gerrard to shame.

Reina was also very good and didn't deserve to concede 3.

mascherano`s sending off was a joke, we have a bad habit of getting punished for what other teams do routinely.
when you see how the likes of chelsea and united carry on, with the likes of rooney and terry with veins in their necks effin and blinding aggressively in referee`s faces not to mention the likes of keane ect against d`urso it makes me sick.
i wouldnt mind but how the f##k does a situation where united players have had 2 swipes at torres end up with us winning a free kick but getting a player sent off and another booked and there wasnt an aggressive gesture in the whole farce (well untill masch was sent off anyway).
in any game every time there is any desputed decision given there`s usually one or two players questioning it, its just part of footy.
if you are going to start booking players for that no one would be left on the pitch.
certainly the likes of kenny and graeme sharp would have lasted five minutes years ago, they used to follow refs around the pitch moaning in their ears.
it`s like earlier on in the season where i watched about four games where forwards nearly had their shirts ripped off their backs by defenders without anything given only to watch arbeloa get nabbed for a slight pull against a portsmouth player.

Amazing how low ambitions we have when running is good enough to get praise. You don't even have to run fast.

Kuyt was really poor today, so was Babel. The difference in quality in the wide areas is very big and one of the major reasons why we again give up the title race in December.

We need better players, especially in the wide areas. We also need another quality striker to complement Torres. Otherwise we're fine, having some dodgy full-backs is OK, we can still manage.

Gerrard is not good enough to be the captain. Where was he, when he was needed? Where was he, when Masch was loosing it? He should have been the one to stop Mascherano and have a word with the referee. But what did he do? Absolutely nothing. What an utter joke he is. He is a good player, no doubt about that. But he is no captain material, he doesn't have the mentality and I fucking hope Rafa realizes that sooner, rather then later.

We lost the game before we got onto the pitch, mentally we were never relaxed enough or had enough belief to win playing our normal game. The game had many parrallels with the FA Cup final game against West Ham. Worryingly, the usually reliable players in our world class spine were the biggest culprits whose game became riddled with indecision, basic errors and most of lack of composure. Carragher usually such a street wise defender with an acute awareness of danger misjudged a relatively straight forward pass through to enable Rooney to get a shot off and generate claims for a penalty. The indecision seemed to spread  like wildfire. The Reina horror show began with a few misjudged kicks - the keeper is generally speaking, by far the best in the league with his feet; like Carragher his usual reliable game . Gerrard's misplaced passes betrayed his usual telepathic relationship with Torres. Mascherano's first yellow card was on the harsh side, but after that his sending off was an accident waiting to happen. Was the second a yellow card a yellow card - of course not, but in the context of the situation Mascherano's indescrition was the height of stupidity. First the referee is an officious nob, second, it was our free kick at a time when we were already 1-0 down at Old Trafford of all players. I always felt that to win we needed our wide players to step up to the plate and suprisingly (especially if you viewed our perfomance against Inter) they did, however this was based on the assumption that our main players would turn up. Unfortuanetly they didn't.

A few disconnected and random thoughts. Just our luck today that Pepe Reina had a rare off day, was probably at fault for the goal and his distribution was woeful at times. Saying that he did still manage to pull off a couple of good saves. Mascherano, unfairly dismissed imo, though he still should have shown more sense than to keep on at the ref when already on a booking, especially when you have a pendantic gobshite like Bennett as ref. Defence was shocking. No composure throughout the side. Might have helped if Gerrard had actually showed up.

How many times have you seen 4/5 players surrounding the ref, not recieving a booking? Can you not talk to the ref? If he insulted him directly, yes, if he was aggresive or laid a hand on him, yes, then fair enough he should have gone. And why was nobody calming Masch down after the first booking, what kind of captain is Gerrard anyway? Why was Crouch not used? Why in god's name was Torres booked!!!?

The only player who can come out of this fixture with an ounce of pride is Dirk Kuyt. Criticise him all you like, but he always gives his all and doesn't bottle it against the top sides like many of ours did today.

Two games a year we look short of quality. These United defeats always leave us depressed but he - there's a shitload more games we can still win. Need to put this behind us - a shocking performance from some usually reliable players - Carra, Reina, Mascherano.

Forget about this - we need to improve, yes but you always need to improve. Still a stinkfest of a match - rubbish performance, couldn't see us winning with 11 men either. We are shit against United and Benitez needs to work seriously hard on that.

May aswell do a guard of honour for them every time we play them. Let's roll over and die while they beat our 18 titles.

Is this a surprise? No, we have been shit in every single match in the league even the 7-0 win over derby was shit. We are shit and delusional. But we have a good enough team just not a good enough coach/motivator. Rafa is a great waiter but crap motivator.

Did I miss a goal in that game?  Idiot, fuck off.

Oh and Redknapp needs to shut his mouth, what an absolute cretin. Embarrassed that he ever played for us.

Agree entirely even andy gray was fighting our corner. Redknapp needs to sort it out, piss poor refereeing cost us the game. Looked half decent before masch got sent off then it all went to pot. Rafa deserves none of the stick he is gonna get blame the players.

We did not bottle it for fuck sake and our players have big game mentalities. Peoples memories are short - in Europe we have out played the best teams.

The game was won and lost by two silly errors - Reina and Masch. he should have kept his mouth shut but sending off was harsh.

We still have some massive games so need to forget about it and move on
No, jazz. You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft.

Oh well, my nerves were shaking today, I was optimistic that a result could come out of this fixture until I saw the Mancs formation. I knew they were going to smother us, from man-marking Torres to bombrding our midfield. This is typical Ferguson formation; beat the opposition by playing a similar formation. I was hoping for a draw.
It didn't help that Steve Bennett had lost the game early on, the 1st booking for Masch was questionable but you could tell Masch was asking for another yellow by being both restricted in his play and his attitude was asking for another card. We played as best as we could but in fairness, it would've been a miracle if we could have pulled back a goal which I didn't think we could've.
It was a game where we needed Gerrard to rally the team on but unfortunately he didn't show up along with a few others. I think Aureilo coped with Ronaldo, Carragher and Skrtel barely managed with Rooney's pace, I can see why Rafa decided to keep Hyypia on the bench. Reina wasn't on form but my god he kept us in the game for such a long time.

Oh well, bring on Everton!
Ahh, pressing refresh and waiting for news... just like the bad old days.

Liverpool porn, this.

anyone who's negative can fuck off
