hillsborough footage
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:49:50 PM »
hi, im new to this board.
i live in devon, im an exeter city fan but I've been reading up quite a lot about the hillsborough tragedy, something which has really moved me.  the fact that i knew little about this tragedy aside from the fact that it happened has prompted me to present an assembly at my school for the lower years to learn what happened at hillsborough (i'm 18 by the way). However, I have noticed a lack of camera footage from the disaster. I know there is supposed to be a moving video on the bbc 'on this day' page, but it no longer works. I also believed that the grandstand programme got some moving footage on the day. There is virtually nothing on youtube, aside from some brief news reports.
If anyone has any of this footage, any links on the internet, i would be immensley grateful. As i said, there is virtually no footage from the incident, and while i believe it is better to steer away from voyeurism, i do believe that this footage would prompt my presentation and would get people in the know about hillsborough. I appreciate any help.
Rich from Exeter.

Hey you know what would really help you? Hillsborough For Dummies!! Forgive the title - it's a little tongue in cheek plus a nod of respect to the well-known series of books......

HFD has a specific use - education. The fact that you want to do an assembly on this subject is nothing short of fantastic and I applaud you, Sir, for wanting to do so!! Have you done it already? I hope not - because HFD is only a week or two (estimated!!) away from release. I know the author would love you to use it in some way or other.

I'll keep you posted!

Thank you a lot mate for that info, I will be sure to check it out soon. I have not done the assembly on it yet, I'm am going to coincide it with the anniversary. I am planning on taking a trip up to Hillsborough on that weekend as Plymouth Argyle (a local team of mine, although I actually am an Exeter City fan) are playing Wednesday. My assembly will aim to educate people about it all and recount my experiences of the remembrance.
Thanks again mate for doing this.
