Pennant's been positive every time he's received the ball, has the beating of his man but the final
ball hasn't been reaching Crouch/Torres, Sunderland have been pretty well organised and
we're finding it hard to break them down, as somone said earlier we are certainly lacing some natural width
on the left, all our play has been either spread wide and left to Pennant to take on his man 1 v 1
or simply lofted passes from the back/our own half up top where we're not always winning the  second ball.

37 mins 0-0
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Jesus this is feckin terrible. It's pedestrian and without purpose. They've got a decent keeper as well. At least give yoursleves a chance by testing him.  Two efforts in 40 minutes is poor.

Come on Redmen.

By the way, I should tell you that I haven’t had a chance to shower while making my way up here, my balls are extra vinegary.

based on what?

you can't be serious!! how many good games has Aurelio had? any at all? in his 3 last appearances he has been shocking!!

Man of the match against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City  several other decent games.

His problem is fitness, Riise's is ability (and confidence at the mo).

Pennant and Mascherano are having good games.  Jermaine is making great mazy little runs in the box, shame there wasn't a goal on the end of it.

Just after saying that and JP sets up Torres whose header is straight at the keeper.

That's better.

Sunderland twats singing 'sign on'.

Hopefully we can silence them sooner rather than later.

To sum up the game so far, Liverpool have most of the possession and look quite comfortable.  Sunderland are working hard, getting players behind the ball and looking to play on the break.

A goal is there if we're patient, just need something special to unlock a resolute defence.

Lucas playing out side and Masch in the side seems to be releasing Gerrard to go forward more, and despite what some people are saying, Gerrard has had two or three long range opportunities, we've had a couple of free kicks in dangerous areas, and a couple of times when Torres' close control and lack of space in the penalty area hasn't come off.

or to sum up, liverpool are playing with no urgency against a team thats happy to just sit there and do nothing.

I know - can understand their frustrations thou. We have not had a single chance, nor looked like creating one. Torres and Crouch anonymous

And theres a chance at least.....

agree , this is dire again so far, just hope the lads can get a goal , pennant to score would be nice

Yep. Although then Gerrard gets caught in possession and shouts at Masch (who's having a good game). Not so good.

One of the many reasons I think he would be better off elsewhere, as would we.

crouch and torres having little to feed off
I'd played at Anfield and I knew the crowd were fantastic. I knew there was a public just waiting. So I fought the battles inside and outside. I was interested in only one thing, success for the club. And that meant success for the people. I wanted results for the club, for the love of the game, to make the people happy

Yeah, noticed that. He does have a tendency for laying the blame elsewhere at times.
