Its bad news. From the website article Rafa says:
'It is progressing. Rick Parry has been working on this'.

Expect him to join Barcelona any day now... ;)

I can imagine Parry's negotiations are quite difficult.....

"So Rick, what is your starting offer?, ---------- is keen to sign"

am i right in saying the reported £17mill is to include wages over the lenght of the contract?

anyone know how much are we going to have to pay upfront?
£3.3m per year (based on 5-year contract) all inclusive (fee plus wages).

Needs time for Parry to think about it doesn't it *sigh*

Contract signing; as it happens.

Coco: 'if I can just get your signature on the dotted line Javier'

Masch: 'A pleasure Coco....err, I mean, Mr Parry. I must say I'm glad to be joining this fantastic club on a full time basis.'

Coco: Hands pen to Masch and points to document.

Masch: Goes to sign document, as he leans over and puts pen to paper, ink squirts from top of pen into his eye! 'Aggh'

Coco: Laughing hysterically....'Oh  dear my boy, here let me help you.' Holds flower on suit up to Masch's face and squirts water at him...

Masch: 'Get off you fool, I'm off to Juventus, at least they know how to fix the championship!'

Just want to say that Benitez has pulled out a masterstroke with Sissoko, getting more money than we paid for Lucas (who looks a superb prospect) by tying Momo down to a new contract at the start of the season and waiting to see how things worked out with Lucas and Mascherano. He took some heavy criticism at the start of the season for having five decent central midfielders on the books, but credit where it's due. I'm convinced we would have got less for Momo if we had sold in the summer, and Lucas may not have settled or Mascherano decided to fuck off. If the Mascherano transfer goes through then it's another counter-example to those who question his operation in the transfer market. As someone said above, I don't think we would have rubber-stamped the Sissoko deal if the Mascherano deal wasn't very close to completed.

Don't you think it's asking a bit too much for Parry to finish a deal off within 18 months. Give the lad a bit more time. He's working on it.

He has to work it around his holidays.

Cant see how anyone can be happy about this, given its all from money borrowed from banks. Borrowed because pur normal revenue is being diverted to pay interest on yet more bank loans.

On a more serious tone however, I really do hope it will be finalised these 2 days...

The £17M Mascherano deal includes wages. We're almost certainly paying less than the Sissoko fee to sign him.

Best bit of news we've had in weeks. Farcical that you've had the manager and player gasping to do the deal and it's taken so long.

Indeed. From a footballing perspective I am very happy. I questioned whether we REALLY needed him over another goal scoring centre forward, but in recent weeks I've watched him put in some superb defensive midfield performances.

I guess I'm tied up with working out just how far fucked we now are under Hicks/Gillett, to the point where I am finding little pleasure in us signing a player of Mascheranos quality.

This is the most pleasurable thing to happen at LFC since Marseille away, if it comes off. I'm simultaneously elated over this, and gutted over the shite with the owners. It's a strange feeling.

Touch wood some good news for once. Its a step in the right direction as hes an ideal foil for SG to work off of. That allows us to have a goal threat from CM and now maybe after 4 years in waiting we can sort out our width issues.

Will be very pleased when this deal is confirmed, been feeling a little uneasy about it over the last few weeks but it seems we're finally getting there.

It's a shame to see Sissoko leave, but we do have four fantastic senior options in the midfield, and will have for a good few years, once this goes through.
