Makes me wish I could warrant a PS3. This is what was bumping me away from 'useless over priced shite' to 'god I want one'.

Ooooh, the demo didn't look half as nice and I'm liking that in car view, didn't have that on the demo either. Partly why i didn't like Forza.

can't wait for GT, seems like a rip off having a prologue version though. Do they have the list of cars?

I honestly don't remember a prologue, been playing GT on PS1 and PS2. I didn't buy the last GT version though.

That's odd, there was a GT4 one and I'm sure there was a GT3 version but can't seem to find anything about it. Am I going insane?

Probably not but I didn't get GT4, by the time that came out I wasn't playing on my PS2 that much.

It was nice to play anyway, I'd buy it if it was cheap enough. They're offering it as a PSN download, too.

The was only a prologue for GT4 :wave
There was however a GT concept aswell :)

GT looks nice, but they really need to sort the gameplay issues. The main one being able to go into a corner at 100mph and using other cars as a buffer.

I'm sure my brother told me, earlier in the week, that though Prologue would not, GT5 has had damage confirmed?

On GT4 that gave a time penalty for heavy shunts, but damage is the one that'll really bring the game forward.

GTHD? That's a demo- about 10 cars, one track, no 2 player... it's been out for ages as well (April at least), so the final game/s should look much better than that demo.

They also released a different demo of the prologue as far as I am aware, may of been Japan only though

Confusing.

I decided to have a go of GT2 (can't find GT1) GT3, GT4 and GT Concept. I must say apart from graphics not much has really changed at all. Obviously new tracks, cars etc but not actual on track gameplay.

GT1 and 2 got away with it because of the WOW factor. Also due to the fact it was marketed better than TOCA Touring Car Championship. Gran Turismo fell behind from the start, with the lack of a damage engine in my opinions. It used the excuse that manufacturors didn't want their cars being damaged....Something that stuck for a while, when MSR came out also lacking a damage engine. However games have since moved on and real world cars infact do show damage in games.

The question remains with GT, when will it do something different? When will the game play step up a gear. When will it actually match the likes of Forza and PGR when it comes to on track racing (GT5 is trying to be both this time by the looks of it)?

I want Gran Turismo to be a good racer, because I did enjoy the 1st game and despite my niggles I have always gone back to each sequel.....But now it isn't a case of just picking it up. This time GT will have to make me warrant a brand new console....I am not sure looking at the recent video's or hearing other opinions that it can do that.

same here. I've always been a fan of racing games, and forza 2 is the best one I've played on a console, coupled with the xbox controllers which are fantastic for racing games.

I remember seeing GT 1 for the first time. I HAD to get a playstation after that. I want the new one to make me want a PS3!

The Prologue sounds pretty decent even if it is a bit of a money spinner for them.  Hopefully it'll be half price like the previous ones (concept and prologue).

16 player online racing sounds bloody brilliant!

i'm a bit of a 360 fanboy, loved GT on the ps1 though, 16 player online sounds like a recipe for lag and frame rate drops, have you played need for speed carbon? the race with like 20 cars?

that's what i'm fearing for you guys.

Update.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - Full Details

Finally, the press release we’ve been waiting for! SCEA has announced a plethora of new features, along with a complete car and track list that is raising quite a few eyebrows. Our resident GT news aces amar212 and alba have posted the full press release in our GT5 Prologue forum, with the highlights below.

Ferrari F40: Since Ferrari first joined up with Polyphony Digital to include their cars in the game, we haven’t really seen anything beyond newer models such as the F430 and 599 GTB. Now, though, all of that is beginning to change as the landmark Ferrari F40 (’92) - one of the most celebrated cars of all time - dominates the list. The lesser-known Ferrari 512BB (’76) is also a very pleasant addition that further diversifies the lineup. See the full list here…

Tuned Cars: In previous games, some cars were available for purchase in a special “tuned” form, which included external modifications such as spoilers and racing livery. These cars are once again making a comeback in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, much like the tuned Nissan Skyline in this screenshot. Look through our complete gallery to see other cars such as the BMW 135i, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, and the Nissan 350Z in their own unique racing trim.

Drift Mode: Similar to what we saw in last year’s Gran Turismo HD demo, “Drift Mode” returns, allowing you to score points “based on drift angles, racing lines, and speeds within evaluation zones located at various turns on the course.”

Extensive Tuning: Without getting too specific, it appears that more in-depth car tuning facilities will be made available in the new game. According to the press release, players will be able to modify the vehicle’s power and weight in addition to the regular options.

High Speed Ring: Back in early February, we reported a mysterious “6th track” would be included in the North American version of the game. This speculation was correct, and we are happy to confirm this track is the infamous High Speed Ring, a fictional circuit which made its debut all the way back in Gran Turismo 1.

2-Player Split Screen: With most new racing games abandoning the classic 2-player split screen in favor of LAN or web-based multiplayer, it’s refreshing to see that Polyphony has decided to continue supporting those of us without two PlayStation 3’s around the house.

Check out the full car list and track list after the jump - click on “Read the rest of this entry…” below. If you’re ready to reserve your copy, jump over to Amazon where you can pre-order GT5 Prologue now for $39.99 with free shipping.

They have my car listed (Mazda RX-8), I'm going to queue up the night before to get this game, I'll probably wear a racing suit plus helmet too.
