Not only that it is basic finance planning. Wherever Hicks wants a loan from that company want interest payments from him for a long time. If there are rumours that Hicks is going to sell early then they will insert early redemption charges, which Hicks does not want. So best thing to do is to deny he is going to sell

what we know so far from reputable sources:

-Echo says DIC are prepared to bid but say Hicks selling is another matter entirely

-Reuters reports: Liverpool FC Deal soon, amount may change

Notice the details of £300m contradicts most articles which claim they're after a £350m loan and suggests 'by the end of Feb' when Hicks himself has suggested it will be completed this week

Telegraph article as an example:

'According to City sources, a £350 million deal with the Royal Bank of Scotland and American investment bank Wachovia could be announced early next week.'

The Reuters report is therefore significant as it changes what has been reported by reputable sources and news rooms.

it looks like they may have shelved the stadium or at least the financing of it but something is definitely going on despite the conflicting reports.

we therefore rely on these reputable journalists to do what they're good at and work their sources to get to the bottom of it.

I find it hard to believe that DIC would have maintained interest this long, especially after Hicks tried to sell them a stake, if they did not know that they had a chance of success.
Why else would they stay in the picture? It wouldn't make any sense.
Whether or not they get what they want, they must feel reasonably confident that their superior muscle will win the day

Hicks seems to use the official site sometimes to chastise Rafa or deny stories about himself, although they are usually very late with the news. For the Klinsmann story to have been broken by the Echo and then have the official site pick it up an hour later is pretty piss-poor.

IF this turns out to be true and they do make a bid, I'd be over the fucking moon (if Hicks sold obviously!)
