In my personal experience, a refinancing is often a prelude to a sale.  This is usually for two reasons:

1.  People refinance on a short term basis for defensive reasons so that they are not seen to have sold out under pressure.  Ego plays a role in this but loss of business reputation is the bigger factor here.  After the financing os over, they sell, usually because the loan facility whas short term and expensive and requires repayment in the near term.

2.  Refinancing happens for positive reasons because people want to enhance their sell-out price.  A business with enough funds (even through debt) to run its day to day business is a better proposition than one that is on thin financial ice.

Could be a bit of both here.
