Personally, I think Sterling is a little overrated. He can beat players, but his end product is frustrating.

Full-time. We've been very clinical, can only think of Morgan's headed miss in the first half as far as clear cut chances go.

We're saving that for ManU at home in the next round.

There is a second leg mate...

For me I would now give Sterling a place on the bench against Sparta.

Sometimes as a youth player it's a long tunnel to the first team and I think this would be a great reward for a remarkable performance.

Yes, Southend were awful, dire, unspeakable, but still great play today.

Would be bumper crowd for that after tonight's performance and given the opposition. Hope we get the c*nts.

Pleasant.

Good composure from the lads, always looking to play it, even under pressure, which is nice.
When your Mum used to pick you up from school and you'd run out and be like 'Mummy I got 9/10 in the spelling test today', would she go 'phenomenal, son'.

I fully expect both Man Utd and Newcastle play out a South Park style 'we need to loose this little league game' tie now lol.

Think he was out of position to be fair. I think he's much more comfortable centrally.

He was, but it seemed to be more because the ball was being played down the left, even when Banton came on. When he was on the ball I can't think of any mistakes from him.

He played the same position v Palace though and ran the show. He likes to drift in from there onto his left and leave that flank for Flanno so I think he can play there.

Of course he can play in the hole but then so can Adorjan and I don't see him having the same impact wide.

this isn't a 2 legged game. We are through to the next round to face either newcastle or the mancs.

Great game but the biggest shame that this team suffers is the fact that they are not called Arsenal. Will be very surprised if this gets mentioned in any of the mainstream press sources in any great detail

Totally agree. Passing was quicker and sharper against Palace. Sterling just demolished them, that's the difference.

I didn't catch all of tonights game. The thing with Palace was that Sterling had shit loads of the ball and didn't have his best game in terms of end product (even though he should've won about 4 penalties). Tonight, seems he saw as much of the ball and he was on his game. That might've been the difference.

I think the quality of oppo might have something to do with it. Against Palace it was recieve-pass-move, tonight it was more dribbling, and he's a better passer than he is a dribbler, probably thought he could have a field day in terms of goals. His mate stole the show though.

Stirling will get all the plaudits but I thought Coady was class again. Played the game at his own pace right throughout.

Also when it's clear that Sterling is running the show in such a way its natural for the team to direct play his way, Suso wasnt as needed and so was a little quieter.

You're right Juan, Sterling probably had more ball (or at least as much) in the first half v Palace but was wasteful generally. Tonight he was clinical.

Against weaker opposition, someone like him who carries the ball will tend to look better than someone like Suso who likes a tight game.

Fucking boss, isn't it?

As good as the flair players in the side are there's a nice scouse spine to the side. So promising this lot.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.
