Curious to see if we have any young players we are looking to bring. I thought we might be in for a CB & Striker this summer.

Another great interview.

He impresses me more & more every time he speaks to be honest.

Same here. Brendans got high expectations . IMO i  think a few players wont be up to the task but we'll have to wait and see.

yep, year younger than Sterling, who is a year younger than Suso.

Exciting times ahead. Think he'll be with the reserves before too long.

Nah, they aren't the only youngsters that have been training with the first team. From the sounds of it, there are probably more youth/reserve players there than actual first teamers at the moment.

It's the off season and we haven't brought anyone in. It will pick up once preseason matches begin and we have something to talk about. Right now it's only Suso and you can say he's awesome only so many time before it gets boring.

Smith the left back?

Ive never been impressed by him myself, good going forward but very suspect at defending.

Which is great for the younger kids.  This also give Rodgers a great opportunity to get to know the youth players and get a good read on their ability.

Nice to hear that Ibe has been impressing.  Definitely one of my favorite players in the Reserves and U18's.  He's exactly a year younger than Sterling, so if the management rates him as highly he'll be with the Reserves this season.  Will be great to see if he can fight his way into first team consideration.

I think its a shame that Robbo and Wisdom are missing out - I doubt their skills are being developed by Pearce. Suso's missing too, but his performances have more than made up for it.

Hope Pacheco impresses, IMO its his last chance to make it here.

Wisdom is there, and Robinson is with Noel Blake, not Stuart Pearce.

Though whether that makes any sort of difference...

I don't know anything about Blake but he does seem to be encouraging them to pass the ball. They tried to play it out from defense on every occasion against France, even though they got caught in possession loads. It seemed the Rodgers kind of mantra of I encourage you to play in this way and if mistakes happen I am the one that will take responsibility for them.

I'm not sure that's anything to do with Blake mate. If he wanted them to bring the ball out of the back then he could've played Chalobah in the centre and Dier (in what I think is his natural position) at right back. Anyways, we've got to recognise that simply wanting teams to play out from the back isn't a good philosophy if they're poorly coached in doing that. The other day you had players turning their back on Johnstone (sp) when he had the ball, and plenty of occasions where neither centreback actually moved wide to open up the pitch to move their way out, and you didn't really have a midfielder dropping in to make a triangle in the centre. Infact, one of the few times they did that the first half was at the start of the move that led to the goal.

It'll be his first TV interview I think. I think he may have done one with England at the U17s, but he's done nothing really for the clubs TV channel or even the website.

It was actually quite funny to watch at times. It looked like a directive from higher up that had been issued to the players as you say without any actual coaching/planning/understanding of how to execute the game plan.  "Boys I want you to pass the ball out from the back" :)

If they play like that against Greece which I think they will I think Greece will beat them.

Yeah think it was actually. Just watched it there, not sure if you did too but he spoke well. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders and was emphasizing his need to keep working hard and improving himself. Said he's had a good talk with Rodgers who's told him if you're good enough you're old enough.

Pretty confident you could dub the Shelvey interview of yesterday over that Sterling one and it would sync up perfectly.

But they get the extensive media training for a reason. You only need to make one comment and it's used against you within minutes all over the internet and the media.
