Why is the West Ham game not this week?
« on: December 4, 2007, 09:19:05 AM »
I see Arsenal will get their game in hand out of the way tomorrow so why are we not playing West Ham?

I hate it when we fall back in the fixtures like we have year on year.

West Ham aren't available to play this week. It's the East London Metroploitan Police Ball on Wednesday.

Whats the rush ?

Well it's a free midweek for a start.

After the new year, if we beat Chelsea in the CC and qual for the CL last 16 and go on a FA cup run it may be tricky to fit in.

:lmao

Don't know really but I rather not play them on wednesday than have 8 matches in four weeks... from next week on we're gonna have mid-week matches all the way until Wigan on Jan 2nd.

There some on the official  LFC forum who said that everton are playing at home midweek in the uefa  cup and hence Liverpool's game against west ham is still postponed.
Everton v Zenit St Petersburg, A, 19:45( from the bbc) on dec 5 2007.

It seems the most likely reason. Anyways our players need the rest, it is going to be a long and tough week dec 8 onwards.

I'm quite happy its not this week, we have 5 games in 14 days starting with Reading and finishing with Pompey. If you add the Christmas schedule its 8 games in 26 days up to Wigan.

I don't think we need to add to it.

Was gonna suggest it could have been played tonight, but just realised that it was unlikely because we played on SUnday, and the game against Bolton could not be moved because of their UEFA Cup match. Tricky business this fixture stuff!

If my assistant had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Patr Cheh. he beeped me to signal the foul. The noise from the crowd  stopped me hearing it, I have been involved at places like Barcelona, Ibrox, Old Trafford, Arsenal, but I've never in my life been involved in such an atmosphere. IT WAS INCREDIBLE

would have thought the sensible thing would be to let us play the match against west ham and postpone the everton match till after Christmas. They will have plenty of free fixtures once they got toppled by Oldham.

The BBC are saying so

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/7126684.stm

The FA Cup third round tie between Aston Villa and Manchester United will be screened live on BBC TV's Match of the Day on Saturday, 5 January.
The game will kick off at 1715 GMT at Villa Park.

Villa were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford at the same stage last year and this is the fourth time in seven seasons the clubs have met in the Cup.

BBC One will also screen Arsenal's tie at Burnley (1400 GMT) and Stoke against Newcastle (1800 GMT) on 6 January.

Sky Sports will televise the match between Luton Town or Nottingham Forest against Liverpool on 6 January at 1600 GMT.
