You might be right overall, but just venting some frustration over that particular incident. Somehow recently whenever we play these bastards there's always a crucial decision like that that makes us pay.

To be honest, I think it was a good tackle, although at the time I thought it was a penalty

He had a terrible game and went out of his way to avoid giving us freekicks when he should have and if there was contact (i didnt think there was) with that 2nd ehd tackle then he should have given him a second yellow, just because it was the one decision that went our way doesn't actually make it a right one.

I'm not sure now that I look at it again that he made much contact.  I'll have another look and capture it and put it online later today.

I disagree, I thought it was.  If he had given it away I don't think their players would have complained much. referees award penalties for much less than that.

rob_filler, why wasnt it a penalty? he took the man who was through on goal?

flo touched the ball away, ferdinand took his ankle and this was clear from replays even andy gray admitted it and hes a biased bitter blue

it was a tough decision at the time but how can you say it wasnt a penno???

Look at FSP's reaction. That said it all.

The reason we lost was not because of that, it was because we again did not take our chances while dominating the game. Same old story

How do you figure that? We hardly had a chance worth the name till we were 2-0 down!

We dominated the first half in terms of play and possession.

It's a bit like the Roy Evans era, play well, lots of the ball, lose two one

Not arguing with or against that, not the point here. I saw the replay twice, I thought it was a penalty.  I thought I heard the commentators from *SKY* say it could have easily have been one after seeing the replay.

Moments like that change a game.

As do missing sitters 6 yards out in the last minute.

exactly my feelings, unlucky, very unlucky.

Very flattering result for the mancs, Liverpool showed they have not lost their passion, just hone the passing and get stuck in midfield (reason for their 1st goal) and we can win every game remaining.

It was a pen as Flo took the ball away from Howard and dickhead just brought him down not even touching the ball. Defin peno.

It WAS a penno............

watch the replay......

Flo pushes the ball to his right  ferdinand comes in from flo's left and gets NO WHERE NEAR the ball  his thigh contacts flos trailing leg{ his left } and flo goes down....

so what is the prerequisites for  awarding a penno?

i would have thought the defender NOT touching the ball and taking the legs of the striker out was enough.

I put the video online for you guys.  Hopefully it should clear some things up.

Personally, I do think it's a penalty.  From the angles that are given it's hard to tell whether or not their thighs make contact.  The question is, how did Pongolle fall?  He may have lost his balance having half stepped on the ball, although you can clearly see that Ferdinand was pushing on his back.  Either way, I don't blame the referee because even having seen several angles I still can't really make up my mind.

50/50 situation.

Usually, refs don't give pennos for 50/50 situations, unless it's Riley at OT.

even andy fucking bluenose gray said it was a penalty!

as for diouffy - he shouldn't have had a yellow for the first tackle, but should've for the second.

While it was a penalty, I agreed that the ref isn't too blame.  Split second decision to make without the benefit of replays....oh well..

The sad part is that if the situation was reversed and Horseface had taken a knock, that would've been given in an instant.  ::)

Pongolle just touched the ball away and then got brought down slightly. Personally think it was a pen but if the roles were reversed I'd obviously be annoyed if it were given.

But it would have been given in front of the Stretford if it was horse face. Riley or no Riley.
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

I don't know whether Ferdinand's leg caught him, as it is hard to tell from the angles that are given.  However, Ferdinand was definitely applying pressure to Sinama's back which may have been what led to him falling.

Ferdinand doesn't touch the ball, but I dont think he gets much of FSP either.  I wont use this as anexcuse not to get anything from the game, because we had plenty of other chances to score a goal and didn't take them.
