Is this a potential ticket office cock up?

The way I read that, anyone who genuinely travelled to Beşiktaş could end up missing out, if it they didn't get Porto credit, as they will be in a mad rush with all those who purchased Porto only?

If they're asking for proof of Beşiktaş travel, then I don't see why they are wasting time in selling to those with two credits. Why didn't they just say Tickets on sale initially to anyone with Beşiktaş credit AND proof of travel, and then go down to the Porto credit?

Confusing.

It says that you must provide proof of travel to Beşiktaş, but then goes on to imply that you can actually buy Marseille tickets without proof of travel.

It seems that people who bought Porto then didn't go will still be sorted when it goes down down to one credit, because they aren't required to show proof of travel to Porto. Therefore, what's the point of checking travel?

Also will be interested to see what "proof" they accept (ie: internet booking confirmations with just one or two words changed etc)

Seems this will be the norm then from now on...?

Ours will be interesting - both our Eurostar tkts are in my name....! ::) Might know more after people report back on what proof they accept for Beşiktaş though....

Both Eurostar tickets shouldn't be in your name, surely they need to be in the same name as the passport of the person using them (or do they work differently to airlines)?

Apparently when sncf.com issue them, they are "not nominative". I have queried this and that is what they reassured me! But I still have some doubts....!

Doubt it personally, so anyone could use any ticket they find on the floor etc? And why ask for individual travellers details when booking? Strange.

The website DIDN'T ask for travellers' names when booking, that was just it!!

Quote
Please note that tickets issued by the SNCF are not nominative, except the tickets printed at home. If you have a Printed Ticket®, no modification is possible.

Tickets bear the name of the person who made the order, for practical reasons, for tickets delivered at home or collected on site. However, they are freely usable and ticket inspectors do not check the identity of the travellers.

Our TGV tickets, I printed at home, so they have our correct names on them - which may be ok for LFC but still wondering about the Eurostar - although automatic check-in might make it easier IF they then just check passports at security ???

do i read this correctly in that the Beşiktaş proof of travel isn't actually required for marseille, but MIGHT be required for future games?

but if you want that proof of travel registered, you need to send it with the application and cannot phone up! bit of a pain in the arse this...

For instance, if I were to quote actual speech where  I was relating a conversation, it would be correct to type (for instance) "Marko you are a c*nt"

Interesting. On re-reading I agree with your interpretation. So, in the event of another Athens-style not-enough-tickets scenario, sales will be done first on the basis of x number of credits PLUS proofs of travel, then...well, who knows exactly, but you can see the principle.

It would be nigh on impossible to not let people who had bought all 3 get priority over people who had actually travelled to 2 and sent in the proof for the next match be it CL or UEFA cup. Under this system people could lose their flight stubs quite easily. Interesting to see what qualifies as proof of travel as well. Easy to edit names on internet booking confirmations. Also interesting what happens in the next away game, and if Beşiktaş ticket buyers who don't send in proof of travel lose the credit?

Also in the event we end up in Moscow or Manchester the all home plus 1 away guaranteed a ticket group are sorted if they bought for Porto as this proof of travel rule was not implemented in time. Brought in 1 game too late, which could be crucial if we end up in a final.

Think the next step, and the process which would mean no argument whatsoever, would be to follow Everton and Man U's lead and do pick ups over there. Official day trips etc can pick up on the plane. 99% of independents are there the day before or at the very latest on the early flights out on the day of the game, so plenty of time for people to pick up in team/city centre hotel.

Hmm, I think I will ask to have my boarding passes back, in case the TO screws up later on.  Maybe they will note the  proof of travel provided in some way on the ticket history.

For those of us who went indirect, do you think it will  be enough to provide the last leg into and out of Istanbul?

That would be fine I think. It's showing you travelled into Istanbul on or before 24th October which is pretty conclusive IMO.

Just done a quick calc - Porto was 2500; Beşiktaş was 1400. Marseilles is 2800 so anybody with either of the previous should be OK, no? Or am I missing something?

You are missing the fact that in theory all the Beşiktaş people could have bought at the point when it went to general sale.  Meaning that there could be 3,900 with one credit, so 1,100 could miss out.  In reality, though a fair amount will have both and I'm not sure that we sold the full allocations for either game.

Best case scenario = 1400 with 2, 1,100 with 1, so 300 without any credits could be sorted.

Worst case scenario = 3,900 with 1t, so 75% of those with one credit will be sorted.

Probable =  1000 with 2, 2900 with 1,  95% with 1 will be sorted.

I think that no more than 750 odd were actually sold for Beşiktaş away, with a lower number going through the turnstiles.  Or so it was reported here.

I think that no more than 750 odd were actually sold for Beşiktaş away, with a lower number going through the turnstiles.  Or so it was reported here.

Thanks for the Input, so

Best case scenario = 750 with 2, 1,750 with 1, so 300 without any credits could be sorted.

Worst case scenario = 3,250 with 1, so 85% of those with one credit will be sorted.  (extremely unlikely)

Probable =  600 with 2, 2050 with 1,  all with 1 sorted, 150 left over for no credits.

Given the dates of sale it could be sold out by then.
