I hope we don't risk Torres. Only 8 days ago he was in agony with his groin so I can't see how he's 100%.

We had the same nonsense with Owen and bringing him back too early from recurring muscle problems and we ruined the lad.

We can beat these with Crouch and Kuyt up front and Gerrard bombing on. They were lucky 2 weeks ago and i'm confident of a 2 or 3 nil win.

PS. I also wouldn't play Torres on Saturday and would keep him out of the Spanish squad. He'll be fully fit then for Newcastle and the rest of the season.

wouldnt start harry in this one lads, he's still not fit enough to do so. give him another half hour in the 2nd half, see how he pulls up and then maybe consider him for a start against fulham. its gonna take him a while to get that match fitness back no matter how much he's been running on the training field. can't wait till he's 100%

agreed, HK will make a big difference in the next couple of months, but it is good that rafa has babel that he can rotate the left sided position with, to give harry a bit of time to get right. Early goal would be great, i don't want this to be a olympiakos repeat on matchday 4!

Definately would like to see Crouch start this game. Also maybe start with Lucas in the middle in place of Sissoko as we should have plenty of possession and Lucas is much better on the ball.

As much as I think he's not good enough, it has to be Voronin with Crouch for me. Only because I wouldn't want Torres rushed back or Kuyt anywhere near the pitch for a while.

We either win 10-0 or lost 4-0. We can't afford to hang on to a 1-0 lead and cough it up in the last minute.

Beşiktaş have injuries at fullback. Their wings look weak - I watched the Fenerbahce game and they didn't have much to offer on the wings - everything came up the middle through tight and concise passing. The only time they put a dangerous cross into the box was in the 95th minutes and they scored - only to have it ruled off.

If we choke the middle of the park with MomoMash, we may be able to get away with 3 out and out defenders.

Problem is, we've shown fuck all on the wings ourselves. We also have shown a fantastic resiliency at the back but fuck all up front. Is it wise to throw the book out the window and bet it all on a sputtering attack?

Babel seems to have a magnet in the middle of the park the way he cuts in, and the right wing has been, well, abysmal recently. But I guess that par for the course when we play a centre-forward in that position.

Either way - we aren't up against a team that's gonna run us ragged down the lines.

Sami deserves a rest and we shouldn't be too reliant on his aerial strength if we expect them to be playing on the break much of the time. Would be good to give Arbeloa some time to see if he can play well alongside Carra - we may need that partnership in the future - and Arbeloa should give us more options playing the ball out of defence. Crouch must start - and I expect Kuyt to start with him - if nothing else to help him get the Blackburn game out of his system.

It could be a frustrating game if we don't score early, but I expect our pressure to be telling in the end. If we do score early, it could be the rout that we're all hoping for.
