If their service isn't as described (and if it's not working, then it isn't) then you should be able to get out of your contract.

Phone them and see if they will cancel it, if they so know then look into it with Citizens advice and check the sales of goods act.

Is anyone actually happy with the service they have? By that I mean, had a problem and they sorted it out, as BT was fine until we had a problem! If so, who are you with!

My mate's girlfriend went with Talk Talk in March. She's still awaiting for the broadband to be sorted. She's had to get OFCOM involved now. Talk Talk are utter shite.

Lots of people seem to have a problem with them. I've not had one.

Although, I mainly just use the phone and use my NTL connection for the interweb

Been with Telewest \ Virgin now for about 5/6 years, never had an issue with them, the occasional loss of service, ring them up and they'll give you some credit back. Regularly upgraded the services for me, sometimes took me asking, sometimes themselves. Would recommend it to absolutely anyone who'll listen.

Not the cheapest, but certainly the best. If you can, you most certainly should.

Really good and wouldn't change it at all.

If theres a fault on your line then it's down to bt to sort so it's out of Talk Talk's hands. Be grateful you are with talk talk, have you ever tried finding a number to report a fault to BT? It's good to talk, well if you can find a number.

I've been on Talk Talk for 12 months, broadband connection took a couple of weeks but getting the line rental sorted took 2 months and that was BT being dicks not Talk Talk, in that 2 months with broadband I didn't get charged a penny by Talk Talk, it wasn't until the line rental had been switched they charged the £19.99 p/m. Not had any major problems, my girlfriends father has much bigger problems with his Orange broadband than we get

We're with BT and the connection we have is fine. The phoneline has went down on occasion but a couple of phone calls later and they were sending someone the next day to get it fixed.

However, I did have to tell the Indian woman at the other end of the phone that I had, in fact, checked all of the wires were plugged in and that it was a BT problem. Three line checks later and she finally admitted it was. The van was out the next day to fix the line.

They completely fucked us over for the first 2 months or so. Our internet would work for about 5 minutes, then go off for 5. If you reset the modem it'd work for 10 minutes or so, then start the cycle again. My Dad complained honestly about 10 times on the phone, and every time for the first 8 they'd say, hmm, no problems on our end, nothing we can do. So my Dad buys a new modem, still doesn't work properly. Complains again, so they send an engineer out. As per, it works fine while somebody who can fix it is in the house, then goes toshit again as soon as he leaves. Then my Dad got another engineer out, who replaced the modem with a more recent model and gets it done for free because of all the shite it had taken to get that far, and its worked fine ever since.

Stick to BT or someone

Over the years I have had Sky, BT and Virgin (cable) broadband and all have given me problems apart from Virgin which has been brilliant.

I dont think I would go with anyone else now even if it was cheaper.

Swapped from BT about 18 months ago cos I was so fucked off with their prices and attitude, spent the next 6 months trying to get them to pay me back payments they continued to take out of my account.

Signed up with Talk Talk and (fingers crossed) not had a problem since. Loads cheaper and internet is fast and reliable.

Was talk talk known as something else. I remember AOL got bought out by carphone warehouse was it? Has that now become talk talk? Anyway i've been with O2 for a few years, had the odd drop outs but speed is decent (10meg dl/1 meg ul). I pay 17.50 p/m. Although i could get it 5 quid cheaper if i could be arsed changing my account details so that a 15 quid top up a month gets me 5 quid discount. Like i said, odd drop out but the guys at the call centre's are always sound, once had a chat with one of the lads about cod4 for like 45 minutes. They did get taken over by telefonica by so far so good on the whole.

They have good usage limit and i download a fair bit, although i'm pretty sure they started throttling once telefonica came in.

been with tiscali/ talk talk for about 3 years now and had no major major problems. only real issues are with general connection speeds due to throttled bandwith in their 'fair use policy'.

its currently broke atm but thats BT's fault. they are slow to get to our local excahnge and fix the faults that do occur. pretty much all uk isps are really shite bar the very small companies, these then tend to be eventaully swallowed up by bigger organistations and go to shit to.

Aye, I use a business grade broadband package from pipex which was taken over by talktalk. No problems whatsoever in the 2 years prior to talktalk, and fairly repeated and consistent ones ever since. Fortunately, they're fairly minor in comparison to some because my old contract (which talktalk keep asking me to switch from) has no fair usage policy nor any limits whatsoever. Even so, the bill due date bouncing around to the point where you've paid two months in advance and them not realising that and their habit of disconnecting you as a result on a Friday night when their call centres are closed over the weekend is rather irksome. Wouldn't recommend talktalk at all for an ISP.

TalkTalk

Network = Good

TTT supplied Modem/Routers = Mediocre

Customer service = Not Good

As a general piece of advice for any ADSL based ISP, buy a decent modem yourself.

Eclipse used to be a small local company based in Exeter. They were taken over by Kingston Communications so they are not quite so small now.

They are pretty good, and have reasonable customer service.

I once had ntl as an ISP... they were so shit, they had to bury the name...
