Beşiktaş fans... Where are you?
« on: October 24, 2007, 10:43:03 PM »
Hands up to Beşiktaş Fans. I was overwhelmed watching you guys, even from the comfort of my sofa! Unbelievable atmosphere, which for those who were there must have been a pleasure to take part in. Does this go on every week? The coordination of the chanting and the support for the team was just incredible... Non stop for 4 hours. As a Red all my life, and for someone who has travelled to many Stadiums in my life, that was awsome, and undoubtedly the best. I wish I had gone...blew my opportunity. Did anyone see the whole Stadium bowing considtently for ages!? Incredible.

As I said on another thread... If that was at Anfield, our Main Stand would have walked out.

Well done Beşiktaş Fans... Hats off to you.

Said it in another thread, but their fans were a different class tonight. Must have been amazing to be at the game.

A lesson in how to support your team, singing and jumping for the whole game

A few Liverpool fans could learn from you  :thumbup

Top, top fans. Great support especially when you think that before tonight they had no success in the CL for years. Mind you their team played with great heart as well............

Surreal atmosphere, not sure if I've ever seen or heard anything like it. That's how it should be done!

Indeed.  Best performance of the night undoubtedly.

Would love to see that kind of support at Anfield but of course most of the Kop are too busy moaning about the lack of atmosphere! ::)

Aye, they applauded our players off at the end too which was surprising! They sound really hostile during the game, but they actually seem like a thoroughly decent bunch of fans. Coincidentally, I think that was probably the last time our players got applauded off the pitch ;)

I don't speak or understand Turkish but there wasn't much variation to what they chanted, it all sounded like just a couple of lines repeated ad nauseum. A bit like away fans at Anfield giving it 'someone, someone' s multi-coloured army', a bit banal and more irritating than intimidating. You could have heard a shish being vomited when Gerrard scored.  The good thing about the game was that it was played in a good spirit and Beşiktaş, though limited, took advantage of the good fortune that was going on the night. The rest of the CL competition is going to be fun. Keep the faith!

Superb show of support for their team.  Oh I long for the the days when the Kop was like that in the 70's..

Well done Beşiktaş and well done to your fabulous fans..
Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say

I didn't find it all intimidating. But they were so amazing. A wide variety of chants and the choregraphy was fantastic. Without meaning to sound at all insulting the choregraphed waving, bowing, clapping etc was hilarious.  And when they all started bouncing...
Great atmosphere. We were hoping they would go home, after the customary lock in for away fans went on longer than it had to as there were thousand of Beşiktaş there still singing and chanting.

That was amazing to watch/hear, was so loud for so long. The bouncing was spot on. Despite the result it must have been great to get over there for that one. Can't imagine how much better it must have sounded in person.

The facts are that we - or any western European team - delude ourselves with self-proclaimed delusions of wonderful support.  They'll bring their full allocation in a couple of weeks time, be in the ground as soon as the gates are open and they'll sing all night.  My cousin's a Spurs fan and he went to the away game where they beat Beşiktaş and the fans wouldn't sulk, they'd just keep on singing and jumping up and down.

Oh and at the end, if you'd noticed, a good proportion stayed and cheered Gerrard and co as they did their lap of honour.

We're a spoiled, bloated nation and football - as I like to experience it - is dead in this part of the world.  Our new stadium looks more like a post-industrial theme park than a cauldron of noise.

Great support - just depresses me even more at the comatose zombie like atmospheres at Anfield these days.

All the friggin bluster over the media and from our new owners about how great and loud our fans are - if any of the Gillett/Hicks clan were there tonight they will have been truly amazed at that atmosphere compared to the relative mute Spurs match the other week.

Watched Danny Dyer's Football Factory... and before I continue, I feel the need to justify myself. It was channel hopping and the bit it happened to be on at the time was about Heysel, so I was intriuged. And, finally, Danny Dyer is a c*nt. Anyway, Dyer went to the Rome Derby and although the violence is obviously something that desperately needs eradicating from football full stop, the atmosphere was tremendous. Groups of mates together, chanting, banners... wonderful.

So, that, along with Beşiktaş' fans display tonight has left me feeling rather depressed about our support, along with our team. Sigh.

first time i've noticed anyone expressing doubts about the new stadium. i'll wait until it's built before making any derogatory comments but i do have a FEAR that it might be pretty much mickey mouse and make us a laughing stock. hopefully not.
