Well June in Cardiff was the first time i've ever seen them so I got lucky!

Hope it's not the last for you.

Caught them in Manchester three times, Liverpool once and cancelled on them in Cardiff a few year ago.

Big RAWK celebratory night out when the time comes I say!

They have had bigger problems than whats happened recently in the past, but have always came back after breaks...I don't envisage it being any different here, unless Liam truly wants to call it quits - which wouldn't be a bad thing because, in my opinion, they are well past their peak.
'Nights like the semi-final back in 2005 live long in the memory of anyone who witnessed it, never mind me as an opposition player. That night has always stuck in my head and given me the desire to one day play in a red shirt and help the club return to its former glory days.'

Noel will probably be back in the group a few months from now. It might be a good idea for him though to spend some time away and maybe do a solo album. They might be in better shape as a group had they either done following Be Here Now the fabled "dance album" or had Noel release a solo album.

Gallagher brothers look back in anger as Noel storms out of Oasis

Some might say it's been on the cards for a long time, but with a few choice words on the band's website last night Noel Gallagher announced he was quitting Oasis and bringing to an end one of the most famous partnerships in British rock history.

In typical style he did not mince his words about the cause of the split: his notoriously combustible relationship with his brother.

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight," he said. "People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets to the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

The news came swiftly after the band stunned fans by cancelling their second big festival show in a week.

They were due to play last night at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. But according to reports, the Gallagher brothers were involved in a fight backstage minutes before they were scheduled to go on stage.

The bust-up, which is said to have involved broken guitars, followed more mayhem last weekend when Oasis pulled out of the V Festival with Liam reportedly suffering from viral laryngitis.

Noel's announcement followed months of speculation that the band might be splitting and years of squabbling between the brothers.

In an NME interview last week, Liam said the pair weren't currently speaking. "It takes more than blood to be my brother," he said.

There followed a stream of abusive comments on social networking websites, the pair goading each other with insults.

Liam's postings also revealed that the pair were now travelling separately on tour and only saw each other on stage.

Following last night's announcement the band's fans took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their sadness.

"Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis? Gutted, no more Oasis then I guess, they were one of my favourite bands," posted PsychedelicAdam. Wolvolass said: "I feel sick, sooo many good memories and gigs seeing Oasis over the years." MattGriffin added: "This is the worst day ever."

As news of the split spread, the band's website crashed as fans desperately logged on to verify the announcement.

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was playing in the French festival last night, wrote on her Twitter page shortly after 9pm: "Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel's guitar, huuuge fight!"

She later updated the page saying "Noel's quit".

At Rock en Seine the crowd were told by Bloc Party, who were due to perform before Oasis, the Manchester band would not be taking the stage. Many of the crowd thought it was a joke, until the big screens at either side of the main stage showed the message "as a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled".

Ben Clover, 28, who travelled from south London for the festival said: "I was hoping to see the band on the top of their game – now I am not sure we will ever see them perform live again.

"There are a lot of British Oasis fans who have come over for this gig and they are very disappointed." The brothers have enjoyed a publicly rocky relationship since the band formed. In 1995, Liam famously refused to join the band on a crucial American tour, leaving Noel to take on lead vocal duties.

But despite a series of fall-outs, neither brother have ever officially left the band before. After the band's formation in 1991, they released their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994, followed by What's the Story (Morning Glory) the following year.

The acclaimed records and live performances quickly established the band as the biggest rock act in Britain. But never far from the critical acclaim were reports of a tempestuous relationship between the brothers and tales of late night brawls marring the recording sessions.

Despite their recent troubles, Liam has sought to reassure fans that Oasis would not be splitting up. At an outdoor gig on 11 July at Wembley Stadium, Liam addressed the crowd and said: "There's been rumours that we're going to be splitting up. Let me tell you now, we're not splitting up, we've only just fucking started."

Oasis have enjoyed phenomenal success. By June this year they had sold more than 50m records worldwide. They have had eight UK number one singles.

They have also won five Brit awards, nine Q Awards and four MTV Europe Music Awards

I think the last two albums are good stuff, after too many disappointing albums. They're still playing sold out stadium gigs, so I guess there's lots of people willing to see them live - mediocre or not.

Personally I think they should have split up after the release of the Masterplan album.  There's been the odd song after that that's been decent, but they've got nowhere near the first three albums (plus the Masterplan) since then.

Maybe Noel will be able to prove there's more to him as a songwriter now, should he do a solo album....fair bit of pressure on him, mind.

Indeed. The Beatles were original, and good.

Actually, Noel wrote some fine tunes over the years. But they never evolved or developed, which all great bands have to do to remain relevant.

A football club isn't just made up of players, coaches and directors. More than anything else it's the supporters who make a club, and that perhaps is the ingredient which best distinguishes Liverpool Football Club from every other team. The supporters.

Comparing the Beatles and Oasis is a lazy stereotype, Stussy.

Is it? Why? They do it themselves all the time. Or they did it, past tense now. And there is a whole lot of truth in it too.

Anyway, it was just a joke, I know how some Oasis fans get really down when someone cracks a joke about them being a Beatles tribute band. Please don't get vexed.

Their first album is magnificent. Absolute classic. Still sounds fresh and full of swagger.

Not as good as the La's though.

I saw them at Slane in June, was a fucking brilliant gig. Im just glad I got to see them before they called it a day. They've probably been my favourite band over the last 15 years. I know they have their haters but fuck it, each to their own eh?

This split up could be a good thing IMO. Noel is the main songwriter in Oasis, always has been. Perhaps if he's away from the squabbling and negativity with Liam (who I think is a fucking dick most of the time btw) then it may allow him to produce some excellent solo stuff in the forthcoming years.

Noel will stay in music, no doubt about that. I hope he does more acoustic shows.

Can well see Noel doing a solo, but with loads of guests, from the likes of Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys and so on. To be honest I think it will be a good thing, I think on his own he will be a lot more prolific with his output than Oasis were.

To be honest Oasis breaking up is about as relevant to the music scene of 2009 as Ringo Starr announcing an afternoon nap or Bob Dylan's roadie going for a dump.

I liked them, but they should've called it a day years ago.

I love the whole 'Oasis aren't relevant any more' stuff. They've just been on a massive world tour, if you bothered to listen to their last album you'd realise it sounds nothing like the first and he story of Noel leaving is one of the top headlines everywhere. Sure sounds like a band no one gives a toss about. The Beatles rip off band is also a massively lazy argument.

Sorry, but thats a load of giant steaming bollox. I know Oasis have their critics, and not every music fan likes them, but to say they're not relevant to the current music scene is rubbish. You could count on one hand the amount of current day bands who have the fan bases large enough to sell out arenas in minutes. Oasis are (were) one of those few. If you don't like them then thats fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But there are millions of people who do like them, and their departure from the music scene will be felt by many. Now if you'll excuse me, I must nip over to e-bay to bid for tickets to see Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, Cascade and Peter "im as relevant to music as a dog turd" Andre. The charts are so awash with musical talent these days that its just so hard to pick.

Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning.

As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis.

The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got.

While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it.

In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge.

I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure.

Thanks very much.

Goodbye.

Dont agree with that comment to be honest. Clearly, we can all see that Noel is the more talented of the two, but he would have not got where he is now without Liam, and its exactly the same the other way round. With the combination of the two, with Liams frontman arrogance, they made themselves great.

"Verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable." And the lack of support from the band.

 ???
Not really sure what Noel means by that all.

Not really sure what Noel means by that all.

It probably means "my brother is a short tempered, egotistical, fuckwad who needs someone to give him a swift kick in the bollox to bring him down a peg or two, but my bands management team don't have the brass to stand up to him and I'm tired of being the only one that has tried to do so over the last 15 years, thank you for everything, thanks to the fans, but i'm fucking off"

Something along those lines I would imagine. I fucking love Oasis, but I've always thought that Liam Gallagher the person (not the bands front man) has always needed a right good chinning. I wish Noel all the best. He's my 2nd favourite songwriter after Lennon.
