The Yossi song
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:44:51 pm »
Yossi Benayoun
Came to play among our stars
Came to hear what scouse was like
All "our kid" and "las"

In other words, not cockney
In other words, Scouse Yossi

Fill our life with goals
And let us sing forevermore
Yossi's all we hope for
All we worship and adore
In other words, running free
In other words, Scouse Yossi

tr. arr. Fly Me to the Moon

You know it makes absolutely no sense ;)

How about Fingermouse ?

Yossi kicks to Torres
And a goal is scored.
Yossi chips the keeper
and the opposition's floored.

I like Benayoun but his face is so gaunt looking I cant have him on my shirt you know.

Even James Milner deserves a place in the England squad before Pennant just to name one.

For those too young to remember, or the majority of those who had no interest in LFC in the late 80s due to

a) not being born
b) not being from liverpool
c) supporting somebody else (you know who you are, turncoats!)

in our last league winning side we signed our second and most recent Israeli - Ronny rosenthal (please note correct spelling).

Rosenthal arrived in April with about 8 games left.  His debut was as a sub against Southampton in a cracking game that we came from behind to win 3 - 2.  Our next game was the horrible defeat in the semi to Palace.  Suffice to say that most reds were very down when Ronny came to make his full debut the following Wednesday at Charlton.  He scored 3 in a four nil win.  He went on to finnish teh season with 7 in 8 games and was duly snapped up.  If memory serves he was joint favourite to be top scorer the following season but it didn't quite come off.

He eventually moved on to Spurs and is now remembered for his miss at Villa in that disgraceful green kit and a hat-trick for Spurs in a cup tie at Southampton that wasn't even vaguely as good as the one at Charlton.

Anyhoo, those that remember 1990 will remember just how exciting it was that Ronny arrived.  Not only that but he had a great song:-

Ronny
Oh Ronny Ronny
Oh Ronny Ronny
Oh Ronny Rosenthal

Eh!

Not much of a tune to speak of, but you had to put the gusto into the Eh!  What fun we had.

Now that we have another israeli lets do the song justice and hope that it brings us the same luck it did in 1990.

Yossi
Oh Yossi Yossi
Oh Yossi Yossi
Oh Yossi Ben - ay - oun

EH?

I can hardly blame him for missing as if i'd have had to walk round in that kit for two hours in front of all those people I'd have had difficulty concentrating on what I was doing.

He was past it by then,  his (and our) glory days had passed

If memory serves wasn't he on trial somewhere else and kenny just picked him up (for fairly small beer in the end)?
