This post is simply a guideline on how you can apply for tickets at anfield whether you are looking to go for your first time or haven't been for a long time and are looking for up to date info, or maybe you just want to read up for the forthcoming season ;) I hope this post gives you a proper insight on how to best secure you match tickets at Anfield next season....

To begin, it is highly recommended that you apply for a fancard, forms are available at: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/tickets/fcard06.pdf and cost £3.50 for the card or £8.00 if you want both a fancard a wallet set (to keep the card safe). Fancards usually take around 4 weeks to arrive. They are used to record any matches you attend on (as these games could be used for loyalty for everton/man united). A fancard makes it much easier to look at your previous purchases (not just matches but OLSC memberships aswell and anything else the TO think is relevant like logging that they've received your application for a European away fixture in the Champions League etc). If you do not have the game/seat number physically recorded on your fancard you will not get loyalty with just the stub.

Match ticket GENERAL SALES begin 18 days before the Premier League fixture is due to take place, so this is generally a Tuesday or Wednesday for weekend games. For Mid-week Tuesday/Wednesday Premier League fixtures I've generally seen them hold it about 20 days before the game on a Thursday but you should always check the latest ticket news page "http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/tickets/info.htm" and also the dates of sale page "http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/tickets/home_games.htm" for up to the date information.

The General Sales begin at 8.30AM BRITISH TIME on the general sale date and all available methods of sale become active.

Tickets can be purchased in the following ways:

1) On the credit card hotline- FOR UK ONLY USERS THE NUMBER IS: 0844 844 0844 and FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE OUTSIDE THE UK THE NUMBER IS: 0870 220 2151- This is concidered the universal method to purchase tickets so please note it may take a few hours of redialling  to get through also it's quite un-likely you will manage to get seats together unless you get through straight away at 8.30AM or if you do want them together they will virtually always be in the main stand but are classed as "Restricted View". The restricted view comes from the pillars that partially block your view of either of the goal-mouths, they're not very bad however and you just need to shift your head to the left/right occasionally to see the full goal. Otherwise if you are purchasing more than 1 ticket and do not mind sitting apart then you should be able to get single tickets in all stands (depending on how quick you get through). Sometimes a queuing system is in operation once you get past the engaged tone/BT Woman, and sometimes there's no queuing system involved and you get straight through to a real person. But both times you've just go to hope your phone redials the last number (4 or 1) the very second someone hangs up so it's basically luck of the draw but you can get through wil a bit of persistance and MUST NOT GIVE UP TILL THE GAME SELLS OUT. The new telephone system that has been implamented into the Ticket Office this summer is now slightly different. Instead of having all sales done via there own different numbers (e.g. Premier League tickets on 0870 220 2151, and Champions League tickets on 0870 220 0034). ALL SALES WILL NOW BE DONE ON 1 NUMBER which (as above) is 0844 844 0844 (UK) or 0870 220 2151 (NON-UK), but it all leads into the same system. Once greeted by the system you will be told that you are being charged for the call, and then presented with a list of options that you select by dialing the relevant number on your telephone keypad. Match Ticket sales are done by option "2". After pressing button "2" on your telephone, you will then be told to press "1" for the sale. If more than one game is on sale that day then the message will say something along the lines of "Press 1 for Chelsea, Press 2 for Wigan" etc etc. Just select the relevant numbers and you will be fine! After pressing the number of the match you wish to purchase tickets for some music will begin to play, the music will either continue to play or will cut out after about 1 second and you will hear the message "All operators are busy please call back later". From the Chelsea sale most people entered the queue at position 96 and it took around 40 mins to get answered by an operator. However most of the time people were told to call back later but were still charged. It's just luck of the draw if you get put in the queue or not. Alternativly instead of going into a queue you may be put straight through to an operator and avoid the queue but it just depends what mood the ticket office are in depending what they do..... YOU CAN PURCHASE A MAXIMUM OF 4 TICKETS PER CALL ON THE CREDIT CARD LINE. ALSO A MAXIMUM OF 4 TICKETS CAN BE RECORDED TO 1 FANCARD PER GAME E.G. YOU CAN'T RING UP AND PLACE 4 TICKETS ON 1 CARD AND THEN RING UP AGAIN TO PLACE ANOTHER 4 TICKETS ON THAT SAME FANCARD.

2) Online Sale- It appears as there will now be limited online sales depending on PTS leftovers.
First of all log into the onlines sales page which is located here: http://w3.liverpoolfc.talentarena.co.uk/ (remember to keep navigating between the pages otherwise you'll get logged out due to inactivity). At around 8.30AM on the "Match Tickets" page a red link will appear to the match that's on sale. Click this link and a seating plan of the ground should appear. Use the drop down menu underneath the plan to see which areas are available online (It usually won't be many!). Select the area you want and then enter the number of required tickets. At this stage 1 of 2 things will happen:

                                                  1) A message will appear saying "Unable to allocated requested seats, please go back and enter a quantity". In which case press the back button on the page and enter a lower number. Tickets may have already all gone online as only a very limited number go for sale via the internet.

Or

                                                   2) You'll see a basket page that shows the seats that have been allocated to you in for form of "AL/128/30/0240" (AL= Anfield Road Lower, 128 is the block, 30 is the row and 240 is the seat number). Use the dropdown menu next to the individual seats to assign different fancard numbers (for loyalty for the everton/man utd fixtures) then press "Checkout" at the bottom of the page. On the next page enter your card number, expiry date etc and then press submit. Next you should see a receipt page giving you a purchase reference number and confirming the seats you've purchased and the amount charged. HOWEVER man people find that they never see this page and it crashes before hand, but in most cases the transaction has been processed correctly. What you can do is log into the membership server located here: https://www.liverpoolfc.talentarena.co.uk/ (no tickets for sale via this page and the reason I ask you to go to the membership server is that it won't be full and instead of wasting time clicking "here" to get back into the ticket server you can find out instantlly) and check your order history. If you see the match with the words "To be printed" next to it then your sale was completed successfully.

3) The other method of applying for tickets is by postal application- To apply by postal application you need to send a Blank Cheque (to accomodate different stand prices) or your Credit/Debit Card Number. Along with a letter/note which states what game you're applying for, number of tickets you require, any fancard details and a stamped addressed envolope, a few DAYS (no longer than about a week or the application will be thrown out) to the following address:

Liverpool Football Club Ticket Office
PO Box 204
Liverpool
L69 4PQ

If you have a fancard you can check your fancard order history online to see if your application was successful or not.

YOU CANNOT JUST GO TO THE TICKET OFFICE WINDOWS ON GENERAL SALE DAYS TO PURCHASE TICKETS. SALES ARE DONE BY PHONE, OR BY POSTAL APPLICATION. TICKETS WILL ONLY GO ON SALE AT THE TICKET OFFICE WINDOWS 11 DAYS BEFORE THE MATCH (1 WEEK AFTER THE PHONE/POST/ONLINE GENERAL SALE HAS BEGUN) HOWEVER THIS VERY RARELY HAPPENS AS MOST GAMES SELL OUT WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF GOING ONSALE.

THERE IS NO GAURENTEE OF GETTING TICKETS THROUGH ANY OF THE ABOVE METHODS AS THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE APPLYING WILL BE FAR GREATER THAN THE NUMBER OF TICKETS AVAILABLE.

About 3 days before the game, there is a returns line called the "late availability line" where any returned tickets get re-sold on. This season it is the same as the above numbers (0844 844 0844 for UK and 0870 220 2151 for Non-UK). This line is the last gasp way of getting tickets for games but it will only happen if tickets get returned. If you buy tickets on this line they will need to be collected from the ticket office ON THE DAY OF THE MATCH, and you need to bring the fancard the tickets were credited to (If you used a fancard), some form of ID aswell as the Credit Card USED TO BOOK THE TICKETS. They will not give you the tickets if you do not bring the above mentioned items.

For sales against Manchester United and Everton.... These tickets are sold differently. About 3 weeks before the game is due to be played, the selling details for these games will appear on www.liverpoolfc.tv and (going on past seasons) will requre 2 games (which the ticket office select) recorded on your fancard from the current season in order to purchase a ticket. If you went to the game but did not get it recorded on your fancard you will not be able to purchase a ticket (You can only get the game recorded on the fancard at the time of purchase and the Ticket Office will not switch loyalty over at a later date). Also as the games you require will have previouslly been sold on general sale, if you have 4 tickets from the general sales recorded on 1 fancard you will only be entitled to 1 ticket for Manchester United/Everton. You need 2 eligible fancards to purchase 2 tickets. If the game does not sell out to fancard holders who have both the required games then it will be reduced to EITHER of the required games and then to ANY GAME from the current season recorded on your fancard.
