About the best draw we could've hoped for, considering our Premiership fixtures. A relatively short trip to France before Villa and a nice, hopefully comfortable game before Chelsea come to Anfield.

Wrong. The away leg will take place before the Chelsea game :-\

Not happy with this draw. I would have preferred some Nordic part timers or even a trip to the outer Mongolia.  Toulouse is no joke.  Let's hope Benitez doesn't underestimate Aston Villa before we go there.

Find out at 3pm today

Each clubs representatives will meet to decide on the dates and release them at 3pm

Funny how they don't mention all the wheeling and dealing by the TV companies & chief exec's between now and 3pm.

I hate this bit, waiting for the confirmed dates, when it looks like I can go to the first leg but not the second.

well if it's re-arranged to be away second I'll have to see if i can get out of  a work trip to the US

I'm praying its away on Tuesday 14th. Bet Rafa would prefer that too. More prep. time for the Chelsea game.

Christ, with our squad, we should have no problem sending over the 'so called reserves' to do a job against Toulouse before taking them apart at Anfield!

Toulouse finished 4th, right?

They finished 3rd. Italy, Spain and England have 4 spots. France, Germany & Portugal have 3.

I'm disappointed, I know people wanted Toulouse for proximity reasons, but in my eyes the qualifiers are the chance to go to some no mark club in a dusty rural eastern european town.
Ah well I'll have to go to Sarajevo for some other reason.

Could have been worse. Celtic have got a tough draw and will probbaly go out.

Decent travel arrangements for players and easy to get to fans. Great part of the world too.

Anyone going down for a few days, try Montpelier, nice beach, great city with good crack.

I fancy a road trip !

To lose to Toulouse, would be unfathomable.  In fact we must not play to lose when we play Toulouse, because if we don't play to win we could in fact find ourselves in a situation which causes us to lose to Toulouse.

The worst part of dawing them is the 'puns' we will have to endure for the next few weeks. The 'to lose' pun is not funny, it was amusing just after 11am, now it's annoying.

I feel exactly the same - though I did want Toulouse in the group stages.

the draw has not even been particularly favourable to getting a decent number of E. European teams in the hat for the groups  :( I'm guessing Kyiv will be quite pleased to draw Sarajevo (who won away in Belgium), though.

Just to point out that as far as I'm aware, Toulouse have never played in European football before and have no UEFA coefficient points apart from the 17.706 they get for being French representatives. If you took those away they'd be ranked below Hafnarfjardar of Iceland.

Is there anyone who watches French football that can explain how they scraped into 3rd spot in the French league? Do they have any decent players?

Because the French League bar one team is utterly awful. Elmander is a decent enough player.

Tricky draws all round for the British clubs with the exception of maybe Rangers, don't fanct Celtics chances much. I think we did ok to be honest, and its nice  that there's not another Europe wide trek involved after all the travelling done preseason.

Elmander was one of the better players in the french league last season. Hard working athletic. Not sure he's their mvp, but thereabouts.

Since it's a tie we are very serious about winning, regardless of the opponents, (we can't afford to slack on that one) Toulouse will be interesting and not too far away either. Rather see us having a decent opponent, making it two (hopefully) good games..

Well, if we can't beat Toulouse then I don't think we deserve to be in the Champions League.

Should be a good match for the new players to stretch their legs and hopefully they'll play some good football as opposed to some of the yard dog shit you can get from some of the worse teams in Europe.

The French club finished third in their domestic league last season to qualify for Europe's premier competition for the first time.

The achievement was unexpected as a week before the end of the season they were mathematically out of the race for a CL spot following a draw with Nantes.

However, the game was abandoned with three minutes to go because of a pitch invasion, and Toulouse were later awarded three points instead of one.

Five years ago they were in the third division.

Damn missed Rangers.  Have we ever played them in Europe.

Here comes Liverpool

Couldn't get them as they were also seeded
