Sorry. I've supported the lad long enough. This isn't knee jerk after a defeat, but the consequence of a very long period in time when I've been mulling over whether to say anything.
He's not good enough for us and we play all the worse with him in the team. That in itself is not directly his fault and only a by-product of his selection, but quite frankly Emile has had far too long to prove himself. I'm fed up with GH mollycuddling his delicate ego. We need winners out there and if we are not ruthless in our pursuit, then the real winners will leave.
He is not good enough in the air, he doesn't score goals, his touch is poor, he doesn't look interested, he goes down too easily and he should be excelling at his age. Sure there are the games that people will point to wherein he scores and yes I cheer fucking loudly when he does, but it's not hyporitical, for I support the team and Emile when he's playing, but I fear that those games are increasingly few and far between.
If we are to win the league, we need to sell Heskey either this January (which I doubt due to Milan's injury) or most certainly at the end of the season. We need someone to take the burden of MO.
The arguements for his consistent inclusion, I feel, are largely interwoven with the ideology of "thou must support every redman". Whilst true to an extent, patience is not limitless and forums are here for discussion.
Sorry Emile, but come in number 8, your time is up.
