Liverpool are tracking Brazilian striker Amauri with a view to making a swoop in the summer, according to the Palermo marksman's agent.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been eyeing the goalgetter for some time after having been alerted to his talents last year, when he signed for the Sicilian side from Chievo, and is set to table an offer as he seeks to strengthen his strike force for next season.
But the Merseyside club could have a fight on their hands if they are to land Amauri, with a number of other clubs believed to be interested in securing his services.
"Benitez is an admirer and considers him to be the best striker in Europe, along with Didier Drogba," agent Mariano Grimaldi said. "However, Liverpool are not the only ones after Amauri. There are offers coming from several other clubs. But Liverpool have kept an eye on him for quite a while now."
Amauri, 26, has not played since before Christmas, when he fall victim to a cruciate ligament injury that required surgery and ended his season. But prior to his layoff, the Rosanero striker had established himself as one of the hottest properties in Serie A with an impressive haul of eight goals, and Palermo's steady fall from the upper echelons of Serie A ever since has largely been blamed on his absence.
I know he was having a great year before his injury and think he would be a good addition. According to the article, Benitez thinks his the BEST striker in Europe along with Drogba. We need to sign a striker this summer, maybe it will be him.
