Your PL team of the season so far?
« on: March 4, 2007, 02:05:42 am »
Bored, hence:

Post your teams of the Premiership season so far, to avoid controversy you are allowed
to pick two elevens, one with Liverpool players and one without.

(The idea being so we don't get into the whole - how could you not pick Kuyt etc etc. )

Mine are:

1.
                          Van der Sar

Richards     Toure          Vidic        Shorey

Ronaldo      Fabregas   Lampard     Barry

                Drogba         Martins

Subs: Cech, Terry,Scholes,Gilberto,Berbatov.

2.                        James

Finnan       Carra          Terry        Evra

Lennon     Gerrard     Essien      Giggs

                  McCarthy      Henry

Subs:  Reina, Agger,Taylor,Barton,Rooney,Kuyt.

It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

                         Cech

Neville         Terry     Vidic          Evra

Ronaldo   Essien  Lampard    Giggs

                Drogba  Berbatov

With Libpool players, put Finnan in for Neville and Gerrard for Lampard.

That makes no sense at all. Why would you pick Van Der Saar for the first team, but then when you have a few Liverpool players in there, swap him for James? Same for Toure and Terry, Shorey and Evra etc etc?

it would make more sense if you just said "Who do you reckon are the best 34 players in the Premiership?", as that's effectively what you're choosing.

Told you at the start, I was bored.
To answer your question I'm not sure, found it hard to choose between some
so created a second team,A team and B team maybe,
perhaps I should have given it more thought.

My definitive team of the season would be:

                       Van der Sar

Finnan      Carra     Vidic       Evra

Ronaldo     Fabregas   Scholes  Giggs

             Drogba    Henry

Dunno why so many people have picked Giggs, he started the season absolutely fantastic. But every time i've watched him recently he's been either distinctly average or non-exsistent as he was at Anfield until the 94th minute when he won a dubious free-kick. The fact that he's scored a couple of important goals (Fulham & Lille) has IMO covered the fact that he's appeared burned out since January.

i suppose there are not many other left sided midfielders that fit in...
